Google Docs and Personal Books

Is it possible to fully format Personal Books using only Google Docs? Or do I "need" Ms Word for this. I can download Google Docs into a Ms Word format. 

I tried to search to find if this had been posted about before, but I only got an error screen. Sorry if this has been addressed at length before.

    As long as you can generate a .docx file you can use any word processor you like (including Google Docs).
