Mobile Ed Certificate Question

Does anyone know if a fully accredited seminary would accept one of these Advanced, or even Intermediate Certificates for credit? It looks like the requirements for say the Intermediate Biblical Languages (exegesis concentration) would surely count for something above elementary Greek and Hebrew...

I know this would be a case by case basis... dependent on the school, the admissions requirements, etc., but has anyone experienced this happening? Has anyone been able to get credit for this training? Are there tests to take to show you know the material enough to skip the course?

Faithlife and Mobile Education is not in any way affiliated with any school or crediting institution. The Mobile Education certificate programs get you a certificate only from Faithlife to show you completed the training.

John had posted about a partnership with Ashland Theological Seminary, but I don't know if it is still in effect. Miles Custis or John Schwandt would know for certain.

The Mobile Ed FAQ mentions that "Mobile Ed does not currently offer credit or certification for completing a course." Even if the web page is outdated, I think what it still means is that Mobile Ed is not accredited.

Regardless, a seminary may require their own placement tests to grant credit and/or advanced placement. I wouldn't expect that a Mobile Ed certificate of completion from FL would be sufficient.

Yes, I fully understand that. But my question is has any institution recognized these as solid enough to award credit... like credit for what you have learned outside the classroom?

Honestly, from the 3 free classes I have seen, I don't see them having the same rigor as a graduate (or even undergraduate) level class. I don't see my alma maters, Liberty and SEBTS, accepting them.

No I have not heard of this occurring. I think you would need to speak to the institute where you wanted to undertake your study and I would expect a placeme test to demonstrate your knowledge. Unless an institution incorporates mobile Ed courses as a part of their program with their own testing / assignments I do not believe it is a replacement for academic study but a great vehicle for doing independent study for personal growth in understanding of the topic area of the course material.

For me its a matter of questioning. The videos themselves are informative but very light. After you have followed all of the additional reading though you are building up some significant knowledge. The problem is that the questions are based on the videos rather than the suggested reading. I think all as it would take is for FL to offer a better method of test which covers everything in the course rather than the 5-10 hrs of video and it could be acceptable to a few places.

Almost certainly no seminary credit will be given for certificates, as it is not accredited. However, when I was in seminary (100 years ago [;)] ) one could "test out" of the basic Greek courses, and move on to advanced courses, such as Greek exegesis. The certificate program might prepare you for that. Of course, in those days, six hours of Greek was a prerequisite requirement for Asbury Theological Seminary. If, like myself, you did not know Greek, you were required to take six hours of Greek your first year, which did not count toward your degree. They have gone soft these days, and they now count the basic Greek hours toward your degree as an elective. Such coddling of this generation, don't you think?

So my seminary Faulkner University said I can take the LA171, LA181, HB101, GK101 and BI100 and be able to comp out of the placement exam for Greek and or Hebrew. But I would need a certification from the director of Mobile ed classes and exegetical paper
