The New Notes

Can someone help me to understand the new note system? I write in the Logos web app and it does not sync with the desktop or the iPad. I look for the same functionality and they are not the same. I am confused on which one to use and how to use the new note system. Can I get a video to explain or a manual to help me understand and help me to use the new note system? Please I need help or maybe I just need to use the Sermon document to take notes because it syncs across all platforms.

Has the new note system been announced?  Is it now live?

That is correct, it has not launched yet. The Web App is more of an introduction to the new system which will likely be implemented in Logos 8. And if I understand correctly, at that time, the notes will sync and integrate/merge with the other notes we have in the desktop.

The new notes system, which we've been piloting on the web app, is still in beta. If you want to see the new notes system in the desktop software, you'll need to join the Notes Tool beta testers group on Faithlife. You'll also probably want to run the command Set Prefer Notes Tool to Yes, which you can reverse by running Set Prefer Notes Tool to No. Your notes from the old system won't automatically be migrated to the new system until we add you to the migration list. I'm not sure when we'll do that again.

There will probably be a mobile beta available in the near future that has the new notes system. When it's ready, we'll share a link in the aforementioned group.

All three platforms will be moved to the new system by early next year, Lord willing. I'm sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

That's what I was missing. Thanks, Phil!

I received an email yesterday talking about the new notes system and when I "take a look" by following the link, it takes me to the web app.

When will this be launched on the desktop app? I don't use the web app at all.

Hi Scott, welcome to the forums:

You can try the Notes Tool out on the desktop app by following the instructions Phil Gons give a few posts up.

It’s available in Logos 7 now, in beta. It will be available more generally when Logos 8 launches, but that date hasn’t been announced yet (though it’s likely to be fairly soon given that it’s more than two years since Logos 7 was released).
