Free upgrade for connect subscribers

If you make extensive notes/highlights in L8 using the new Notes tool, they will not be available on the old/current Notes system. So if you use the Connect upgrade, you should elect to use the old Notes (type set prefer notes tool to NO in Command/GO box). Then they will be migrated to the new tool.
Are you saying Notes are a feature set and not part of the new v8 core? Notes have historically always been part of the core system. Is this now changing?
From what has been said so far (many thanks for everyone's input), once I upgrade to v8 I will remain on v8, but will lose features rented through Connect. Notes have never been a rented feature set, so I am not understanding why notes created in the new v8 would be lost with the removal of a connect subscription?

From Phil https://community.logos.com/forums/p/173723/1002831.aspx#1002831:

I'm not sure why Dave is advising to try to avoid the Notes Tool. It will be the only way to access your notes on the web.

Dave’s concern is that if one uses the new Notes tool as part of a Connect subscription, and then that Connect subscription runs out before Logos 8 Basic is available, could not that leave someone without access to Notes taken in the new tool?

Is anyone able to confirm if this would be the case?

I double-checked on this and it is currently the case; the Notes Tool feature is locked in Logos 8, so you would currently lose access to it if your Feature Set license expired. This restriction will be lifted in the future.

Thanks for the clarification.
And while Bradley probably won't be able to say when "the future" will be, I would guess Q1 2019, or Q2 at the latest — whenever Logos 8 Basic is launched. (Logos 7 Basic launched in Feburary.)

What is the situation for Logos 7 users e.g. when does their "temporary access" cease?

Notes was only available to Logos 7 users who are part of the Notes beta program. That remains the case.

That was implied, but is that still the case given that it allows "temporary access"?
