I accidentally (wasn't paying attention) deleted several Layouts. Once I figured out what was happening, I tried to Undo what had been done. No dice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
all about Christ,David
Do your deleted layouts appear at documents.logos.com? You can undelete them there, and they should reappear in Logos the next time you sync.
I have several items (like notes, clippings, sermons, and so forth) in documents.logos, but unfortunately, nothing when I filter by Layouts. Thanks though. I did get excited for a moment.
Did you change the Available dropdown to Deleted?
(I'm on L8 already, so I can't easily check to see if Layouts were among the documents for L7.)
If nothing shows up there, you might need to contact Customer Service to see if there is something they can do to recover those deleted layouts.
I'm still on Logos 7. But I did try deleted as well as available. No luck. I guess I will give support a call. Thanks.
Support said it's impossible to restore them once they are deleted. Very thankful they can answer it...but still, sad this can't be undone. It was my own fault. Lesson learned.
Sorry for the unfortunate news, David.
I've created a Suggestion: Add confirmation to unrecoverable layout delete option to hopefully prevent such loss in the future.
(For what it's worth, if you're thinking about upgrading to Logos 8, you might want to hold off recreating your layouts to include some of the new guides, tools, and features.)

They are not documents and therefore not backed up. However, if you are a sloppy as I am at not keeping things clean, all may not be lost. Have you checked the right side of the layout menu? Mine goes back to August 2 and has many layouts I've since deleted - not by name but they are there.
The right side of the layouts menu was where I was deleting them from. I am sloppy. I had a lot of layouts saved. I assumed, incorrectly, the right side was just a cache of recent layouts, not the actual layouts themselves. As I was removing (really, deleting) those layouts from the right side, I noticed the left side start getting shorter and that's when I nearly had the heart attack.

Thank you!

Ok. What is the "Layout" type on the web site used for?
and therefore not backed up.
Ok, but the layouts are synced between other desktop devices, right? Does that sync process involve the documents website?
It occurs to me now, that if there was a second desktop for an account, you might be able to disconnect it from the Internet (or start up Logos offline), make a duplicate copy of its yet-undeleted layout, then let it sync to get that layout back on the first desktop?
Just trying to understand other possible recovery options, when this occurs again.

Layouts do not appear under documents anywhere that I can find. Layouts are a distinct thing.

Lots of things are synced that are not documents and looking at the list of items on documents.logos.com, it appears that a number of things not considered documents use it for some sort of sync/backup ... including layouts. But in the context of Logos, I understand the term "document" to be reserved for the documents on the Document Menu.
BRILLIANT! Booting up the home PC I rarely use with Logos (maybe once a month) Offline. Layouts are there! You all are beautiful!
Decided to rename and create a copy of each. I'll let you know how it turns out. Hopefully the renames will be enough then I can just delete the copies, but didn't want to chance it
Got them all back! Additionally, renaming the files worked. Thank you both.
Great, glad that everything worked out!
Good morning all, this is a little off topic, but i am having difficulties syncing the Layouts on the iPhone app with the windows 10 desktop program. A created Layout on the iPhone app does not appear in the list of available layouts on the desktop. All are running updated versions of Logos 8. Do you have any advice.
Best regards/John
Welcome Josh! [:)]
this is a little off topic
It is best to ask questions in the appropriate forum. In this case, the L8 forum. However, since you asked:
i am having difficulties syncing the Layouts on the iPhone app with the windows 10 desktop program. A created Layout on the iPhone app does not appear in the list of available layouts on the desktop
They are not intended to sync.
All are running updated versions of Logos 8.
For clarification: "Logos 8" is a desktop application and does not run on mobile.
For clarification of the clarification of the answer to a question not in the appropriate forum.
desktop: Logos 8
web: Logos 8 Web App
