HELP! Highlights from mobile not syncing to desktop

I have a Kindle Fire 10 tablet (7th generation) running Fire OS version 5.3.6.4 with the Bible app version 8.0.8 installed. I have a considerable number of highlights (maybe a couple hundred?) made in several resources on it over the course of the last week or so that I cannot get to show up on my desktop, which is running Windows 10 Pro version 10.0.17134 and has Logos 8 version 8.2.0.0015 installed. An example of one such resource I have made highlights in is:

LLS:NICOT01GE2
2012-01-30T17:54:41Z
NICOT01GE2.logos4

I made a highlight in this resource on the desktop this morning and was able to get it to appear in the resource on mobile tonight. I deleted that same highlight from mobile and it then disappeared on desktop as well, so at least some two-way syncing is in fact taking place. However, the highlights I have been making in this (or other resources) lately on mobile are not appearing on the desktop. The highlights I am having problem with are all the same kind -- they are "Yellow" under the "Solid Colors" palette.

I do not believe this is a case of simple user error, although I would be quite happy to be proven wrong. On the desktop I have the visual filters on the resource set to display all notes and highlights available (see screenshot below).

Although I am using this resource as an example, my problem is not limited to highlights made in just this resource on mobile. I am having the same issue with all resources on mobile that I have made highlights in during the past week or so. I have tried deleting the resources on mobile and re-downloading them, but this is not fixing the problem. I am afraid to uninstall and reinstall the app, because I do not want my highlights to be be deleted forever. Please advise!

    Hi Matthew

When there were synching problems last month some users found they could force sync to work by clicking the sync icon on the desktop at the same time as holding down the shift key. I never understood why that made a difference but it seemed to for some. Its worth trying - even though the underlying issue then was a problem on one of the Faithlife servers and it was affecting lots of people

Can you post a screenshot of the Notes Tool on the desktop using the filter "Created - Last 14 days" and also just select notes / highlights associated with the NICOT commentary on Genesis you show in your screenshot?

Hopefully this will give us an indication as to whether the notes are actually syncing.

Do you see notes / highlights there that you have created on your Kindle?

Update: I have not done anything at all since I posted my issue, but when I woke up this morning, all of the highlights I had made on my tablet for the NICOT Genesis volume appeared on my desktop. However, oddly enough the highlights I had made in other resources on my tablet are still missing in action on the desktop. Faithlife, if you read my post and did something behind the scenes for that one book, can you do it on a broader scale for the rest of my highlights?

Graham, to answer your post, yes, I had already tried syncing with the shift key, but for me it did not make a difference. Yes, I am able to see all highlights that were made using my tablet on my tablet (just not anywhere else). Here is a screenshot of my Notes tool on the desktop showing highlights for another resource that is not syncing correctly. It shows the most recent highlights were made a month ago, which is simply not correct.

    The resource pictured is:

I, for one, would not like to appear or be overly critical but the issues surrounding the L8 mobile are troubling! I have experienced similar issues (though NOT presently) but the things that trouble me are the things that should work much more flawlessly than they do but also things that should be instituted like offline use of our reverse interlinears. Many times, as one who lives in an internet challenged area, I need this offline capability to function in ministry! Another platform which I also use ALREADY does this flawlessly and I would think that a program as powerful as Logos 8, with a staff of capable developers could make this happen!

I for one, would like to see significant improvement!

Update: My highlights that represent hours and hours of work are still trapped on my tablet and not syncing to Logos 8 on the desktop. When I saw the announcement that version 8.1.1 of the app had been released, I was really hoping that would correct the problem. In a bizarre twist, however, I am not being able to update the app. If I go to "Appstore" and then "App Updates," my tablet shows that the Bible app was last updated December 13, 2018, but then it lists "version 8.1.1." If I navigate to the Bible app in the app store, it says "Latest Developer Update: January 30, 2019" and lists "Version: 8.1.1." However, when I open the actual app, the "Help" menu shows that the installed version is still 8.0.8. Normally when a new version comes out, my tablet automatically updates to it, but this time it is like the tablet was somehow tricked into the thinking it is already running 8.1.1. When I manually browse to the app in the app store, I have a yellow button that says "Open," when what I would expect here is a button that says "Update." So now not only am not I not able to get my highlights synced to the desktop, but I also cannot update the app. Faithlife, if you are reading this, please advise.

EDIT: I went to Amazon's website on my PC to see if I could manually download version 8.1.1 of the app, transfer it to my tablet, and install it that way. Amazon's website says that version 8.1.1 is not compatible with my tablet. I am more than a little surprised by that, as it was the newest version of the Kindle Fire available as of Christmas 2017. It is not even two years old yet, and using it as part of my Logos workflow was the only reason it was bought!

I am experiencing the same issue.

    • Changes to notes on the iOS app do not sync to the desktop though they show up in app.logos.com.
    • Changes to notes on desktop sync to iOS app and app.logos.com

Holding shift while syncing data on the desktop does not help.

Is there any word on a fix to this?

This is a common problem as a result of fundamental design flaws in the notes/highlighting implementation. I recommend you contact Faithlife customer support.
