How do I access the 'Docs' 'Guides' and 'Tools' menu when they are not on the screen?

I am using a Mac and often cannot see the three buttons built into the UI. This is because the window is deliberately narrow, I just need a column of bible text alongside my working in MS Word.

The hiding of the buttons is as I would expect but I would also expect some alternate way to access their functionality when they are not on the screen.

Am I missing something? How do I see these buttons as menu items when the buttons are not visible on the screen?

For documents you can use the command "show documents" I'm not sure about the others.

You can use the "passage or search" box at the top of your screen to open any of your documents, guides, or tools. Type "open " followed by the name of the thing you want to open.

The Documents popup can also be open as a panel to give you access to those. Either drag the "Docs" menu out to a panel, or enter the command "open Documents".

That helps if you can remember the name of the item you are wanting to open, but not if you want the menu itself which is what I think they were wanting but I could be wrong.

It's not a perfect solution, but it's currently the easiest one I can think of, given that the application was not designed for use at that width. I suppose you could also add all the tools and guides to your favorites panel and use that for opening things.

I think this is something people tend to overlook. The software was designed, as you said, to be used at full width and we can't/shouldn't reasonably expect it to behave the way we want when we do not use it as designed.

I think this is something people tend to overlook. The software was designed, as you said, to be used at full width and we can't/shouldn't reasonably expect it to behave the way we want when we do not use it as designed.

But it's also very common for people to have a split screen view with Logos on one side and Word or a web browser on the other. It's not unreasonable for a person to expect to be able to have Logos open in a split screen view. Many of us have laptops with 13 or 14 inch screens. We don't have have big 20-inch monitors or even multiple monitors as some Logos users have.

Hi Martin

I may be missing something in your problem but if I wanted to open either Docs Guides or Tools but did not want to obscure the bible text next to your word document. I would open an adjoining space and place logos in it. I would then open my Bible and float the panel.

Once the panel is floated I would place it beside my word document as you show in your screen shot.

This would keep a copy of the bible beside Word and the functionality of the rest of the program is just a three finger swipe away.

CMD+O will open the Docs menu. Not sure about CMD+G, CMD+T, but G = Guides and T = Tools in Windows (with ALT key).
