8.3 - Cloud Resources and New Installer

I think I know the answer but want to be sure.
Are the reduced resource options in the new installer linked to the Cloud Resource feature?
From what I have read here I think that the answer is "Yes" as it looks like the installer sets up a Cloud Resource configuration to limit the size so this means the new installer will be delayed for 8.4 along with the Cloud Resources.
If this is true then I'm guessing that the best way to install a subset of my library on a new Notebook that does not have enough SSD storage for everything is:
- Download and install an 8.3, or 8.4 if ones available in time, beta release with which has the reduced install option.
- On completion of the install set channel to beta to avoid losing the Cloud Resource feature due to a stable update.
I'm comfortable running with a beta version I just have not done this for a while as I've been using a single system and relying on the apps for study when I travel.

8.3 RC1 is the first non-beta version that invokes the Cloud resources feature with set update channel to beta. You can do that with future 8.3 releases, but the feature will only be updated in 8.4 beta versions. Note that the RC1 installation is "normal", and will download all your resources unless you cancel the download. After you set update channel to beta you will see the selection window for a reduced installation.
But there is a problem with 8.3 RC1, so wait for another release before installing.
