The collection consists of an exposition of the theology of the Sacred Heart by Henry Edward Cardinal Manning, a June-centric devotional, and a lengthy biography of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, promoter of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her spiritual director was the Jesuit St. Claude de la Colombière.
