Making a PBB using my Logos 8 Library.

Hi folks

Is it possible to make a PBB using the details of my Logos library. In other words I would like to be able to have a record of my complete library using a docx file. If this is possible what are the steps I need to take to do what I wish. Thanks for any help.

    Try this:

    Download this file, unzip it, and save the file it contains (a program, PersonalIndex.exe) in any directory on your computer. Then in Logos open the Library, then from the menu in the top right corner choose Print/Export, then in the Print/Export window choose XML under Export in the bottom right corner. This creates a file called Library.xml. You should either save it to the same directory as the program, or save it elsewhere and then copy it to the directory of the program.

    Next, run the downloaded program. (It only works in Windows. If there is enough demand, I might make a version for Mac.) A windows will open and then close again, which means that the program has finished. In its directory, you will find a file called My Library.rtf. (There will also be another file; I will explain that one in a few days' time when I have done some more work on it.) Open My Library.rtf in Word or a similar program, and then same it as a DOCX file. Use the Personal Books tool in Logos to make a book from the DOCX file, and it should appear.

    At the moment, the created book is rather simple: for each book it has just the title (which is also a link to open the book, and gives more information when you hover the mouse over it), the author(s) and the publication date. I could add other fields that are in the library if they are desired, or give the option to change the order (currently alphabetical order of the title). Let me know the sort of format you were thinking of.

    Or you could just create a collection for your entire library and export it as a word file.

    To do this:

    Create an All Resources collection using the collection rule *

    Use the Print Export feature in the Collections pane

    Once you have that collection, you could use it to create a Bibliography document found in the Docs tab. That would be my preferred method.
