No, there is no need to wait until Verbum 9 ... that's just my way of acknowledging that this is a request that sounds simple but ... I find the organization of doctrine in Lexham Survey of Theology  one system too many for my brain.  I would love to see the doctrinal organization of the following documents mapped to the visual of Lexham Survey of Theology

  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church - because this is organized by the creed, this would actually map many resources from multiple denominations to the LST
  • The Systematic Index from Denzinger . It would be an extra plus if it could reflect the current 43rd edition.
  • The Doctrinal Index from Jurgens
  • The TOC organization of Willis'  The Teachings of the Church Fathers
  • The TOC organization of Akin's The Fathers Know Best
  • The TOC organization of Lugwig Ott's Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma
  • (Possibly) Map the topics of the Catholic topical index to the LST (I'm not sure this is possible but I'm throwing it out there).

This is useful not so much because it ties Verbum into LST but because they are mapped to a common map, one can move between the 6 resources more easily. As the resources themselves are references and anthologies, this ties much of the specifically Catholic content together.

I am not completely convinced that the LST is sufficiently robust to handle Catholic and Orthodox theology ... I suspect a number of extensions would be required but believe that an integrated mapping is desirable even it it illustrates weaknesses in the current base.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
