I know these have been suggested before, but perhaps the makeup of the Logos community has changed to include more interest in the actual practice of Jewish scriptural interpretation:
- God Was in This Place & I, I Did Not Know―25th Anniversary Ed: Finding Self, Spirituality and Ultimate Meaning by Rabbi Lawrence Kushner - a personal favorite of myself and one of my past pastors.
- Reading the Book: Making the Bible a Timeless Text by Burton L. Visotzky (essential to understanding Jewish perspective)
- The Last Trial--On the Legends and Lore of the Command to Abraham to Offer Isaac as a Sacrifice: The Akedah by Shalom Spiegel and Judah Goldin
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
