Reference Indexing for eBooks

Hi Guys

I recently brought few eBooks from Faithlife eBooks, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be indexing the way Logos been indexed...  The only reference links generated are the Bible verses, not to other resources.

For example, I am reading "Lord's Support As A Means of Grace" by Richard Barcellos:

I define means of grace as the delivery systems God has instituted to bring grace – that is, spiritual power, spiritual change, spiritual help, spiritual fortitude, spiritual blessings – to needy souls on the earth. Grace comes from our Father, through the Son, by the Spirit ordinarily in conjunction with the ordained means. The means of grace are those conduits through which Christ alters, modifies, adjusts, changes, transforms, and develops souls on the earth. Herman Bavinck says, ‘Christ is and remains the acquisitor as well as the distributor of grace.’4

Where reference 4 contained a footnote:

4 Herman Bavinck, Reformed Dogmatics: Holy Spirit, Church, and New Creation, IV, translated by John Vriend (Grand Rapids: Baker Academic, 2008), 448.

I happened to have Reformed Dogmatics in my library, but there is no link to it.

Is this a bug or Logos treat eBooks differently, I would though the search engine will treat all books the same when it comes to indexing and cross-referencing.

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free", John 8:32.
"你們必定認識真理,真理必定使你們自由", 約翰福音 8:3.

    Hi Steven

Yes, you have come across one of the limitations of the eBook resources.

While they are indexed by the software - and therefore searchable - the linking to other resources is a separate activity and needs to be built into the resource. This is something done for producing Logos-edition resources but not, with the exception of Bible cross-references, for eBook resources.

Sorry about that Steven! Since ebooks is a very basic conversion of the epub file, we do not tag ebooks like we do for our premier Logos titles. This keeps costs down so we can provide titles to our Ebooks customers at the best price possible. The only tagging done for Ebooks is for Bible references. This may not be the answer you're hoping for but I hope it helps!

    Thanks for the replies...

I am just throwing an idea here, is it possible for Faithlife to include a self tagging/referencing tool in Logos so we can tag our own resource (or share to the community like notes and highlights), crowdsourcing referencing could be the way for the future.

Awesome idea, Steven! I'll pass it along to the dev team. Thanks!

This would be great. It has been commonly suggested / requested for many years.
