BUG: Notes Created in Mobile App Not Syncing to Assigned Notebook
I was going to report this bug using the Help>Report a Problem option, but every time I tapped "Report a Problem" the app crashed.
As you can see in the desktop screenshot, I have created a custom note style called bookmarks and assigned to a notebook called Bookmarks. When I highlight in the desktop app using this style, the note, as expected, appears in the assigned Notebook.
However, when I apply the custom note style from within the Beta Mobile app, the notes do not appear in the assigned notebook (see 2nd screenshot of ipad--showing note style applied). I am on a reliable network, and I have closed and opened the app several times to try to force a sync. After discovering this behavior, I opened the desktop app and applied the custom note style to a random resource and it populated in the assigned notebook as expected AND in the notebook in the beta mobile app.
Therefore, it appears that this is a one-way bug that is failing to place notes in their assigned notebook when they are created in the beta mobile app.
To clarify further, the notes created in the beta mobile app DO APPEAR in the general Highlights category in notes, but, as I said, they are not placed in their assigned notebook (assigned to the style).
I am using an Ipad Pro 10.5" and the app version is 8.12.0

Hi Matt
The style -> notebook linkage in the desktop does not sync to the mobile apps (it never has) which, I think, explains what you are seeing.
If you go into Settings on the mobile app you will see an entry called "Notebook for Highlights". You can set this to use:
- No notebook
- "Last created highlight" (the same notebook as the last highlight was put into)
- A specific notebook
Until (if) this desktop setting syncs to mobile these are the only options available to us.
I was going to report this bug using the Help>Report a Problem option, but every time I tapped "Report a Problem" the app crashed.
That is a known problem with the latest beta as per https://community.logos.com/forums/p/188724/1090237.aspx#1090237

Wow. It seems like every day I am discovering new reasons why the mobile app is a joke for any serious study/work.

Highlighting falls squarely into "reader" functions. The fact that the mobile app can't even sync Highlights with notebooks is appalling.

Highlights are synced - and if they are placed in notebooks that is synced as well.
What isn’t synced is the highlight->notebook mapping feature on the desktop.
Or are you seeing something else?

I use a specific highlight style to indicate where I last left off in a book...I have them set to save in a specific notebook so that I can easily pick up where I've left off (in any number of books) by consulting the notebook.
When I read on my ipad and apply my highlight to the last place I've read, the mobile app won't "map" to the notebook so that I can quickly locate my place the next time.
The fact that this feature is not a cross-over feature with the desktop app is mind boggling.

The other thing that is really annoying is that IF I create the bookmark highlight in the mobile app, the note won't appear in the assigned notebook even when I'm using the DESKTOP app.

In addition, I can't even filter through highlights by style type. So if I make a specific style highlight in the app then I have no way to find it again without looking through every single one of my highlights.

Highlights you create on the mobile app will sync to the desktop in the "state" they were created - it in a notebook, they will sync to the same notebook on the desktop. If not in a notebook, they will not be in a notebook on the desktop.
So the problem comes back to the different ways of assigning notebooks between mobile and desktop.
One of the major differences for this is that notebook assignment on the desktop is done at the palette level but it is done at the app level on mobile.
A change in this behaviour on mobile has been requested before but no change as yet.

Real talk.

I almost wish that Logos would move in the direction of 3rd party Note integration at this point. Maybe Evernote, or even Google Docs, rather than continue to put out a mobile app that won’t even share basic note recording synchronization with the desktop software, which, in-turn, limits its usefulness for its supposed primary function as a reader.
How can I use the app as a reader if my annotations won’t even reliably sync?

This thread may be "disappeared" so take some screenshots.

Evernote may go away or fundamentally change as may Google Docs - at any time without any notice. Third party note integration is absolutely unreliable and risking that millions of customer notes might just go away without any control of Faithlife and that isn't something that customers would enjoy. In fact, if that happened it may just bankrupt Faithlife.
The point of my post was to hopefully increase the quality, availability and ease of use for notes/highlights on the Faithlife platform. The developers are amazing and can do anything they want, but they don't make the decisions. Quality doesn't sell according to FL. I disagree.

If Google Docs and Evernote were to suddenly "go away" one day without warning, then I would say that the world would probably be in the throes of a zombie apocalypse. In which case, Faithlife would probably be headed for bankruptcy regardless of the status of their users notes. = )

You don't know much about the internet, do you? [:P]
Google docs is probably more secure than Evernote, but who knows. The smaller companies could literally shutter overnight without warning.
