Collections, Library, operators and data types
I am just starting to fool around with searching My Library and building dynamic collections using search terms, which I like a lot. I began the beta testing just before release 3, and I don't have anything in the help file. Consequently, I don't have much official information about using the search terms. So, my first question is, is there any such information other than what I can find in these forums and release notes?
My second question has to do with the way some of the data types seem to be working. For example, in building a collection with type:Bible english, I generally get English Bibles. However, I also get the UBS4 Greek NT, the Lexham clausal outlines of the Greek NT, the Lexham Greek Discourse NT, the Nestle Aland NT.
So, then I try type:bible english ANDNOT greek. That gets rid of the Greek Bibles, but I lose some English Bibles, such as the NLT, It doesn't seem to matter whether I put colons in front of english and greek or not. or whether I put the language terms in parentheses. What doesn't seem to work is trying to use languages as a search modifier, i.e., languages:english. Although, if i use languages :english (Notice the space), I get 3 Bibles--Darby, Holman, and NCV
Thanks,
Dudley

Help is very sparse but you can open it with F1 as per v3.
In Collections (or Library), set View to detail so you see column headings. Right click in one of those headers and you can select others to view. You can use the the name to search for resources. e.g. English Bibles
type:bible lang:English
Some of the metadata is dodgy, so you will have to exclude by drag and drop or by search term e.g.
type:bible lang:English -title:(biblia, septuagint)
will exclude resources with the following titles --> Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHSMorph) and Septuaginta (LXX). It will actually exclude any BHS or Septuagint resource but that doesn't matter as they are not English! "lang" is the field name for "languages".
Note that the spaces are implied AND, the comma is implied OR, the minus is NOT, and the ( ) alllows a convenient gouping of like terms.
Have fun
[you can set your own tags "My Tags" in Library, but the field name is "mytag"]
