Suggestion: Allow adding notebook in the "Notebook for Highlights" settings screen

If I highlight text in a resource, one option that appears is "Note". In that screen there's an option to add a notebook for that note to go in.

Another option that appears for the highlighted text is "Highlight". That screen neither displays nor allows selecting the notebook in which the highlight will be placed.

To affect that, I can go to the "More Items" menu from the bottom and select "Settings". One of the options there is "Notebook for Highlights". From there I can pick the notebook in which highlights will be placed. It would be very useful to be able to create a new notebook right in that screen.

Use case: I buy a new monograph, download it on my iPad, and want to highlight it. But I want the highlights to go in a resource-specific notebook. If I can create it on that screen, I don't have to go to desktop Logos to get the behavior I want.

Thanks,

Donnie

You can create Notebooks on mobile as well as Desktop.  Notes/Notebooks/New Notebook (icon at top).

Martin you are correct in your statement but that is not the issue Donnie is raising. He is talking about a major flaw in the design of highlighting on the mobile app.

    1. Select some text (with the intent to apply a highlight) and the menu below appears.

    2. Click on highlight menu option and screen below appears.

Great, I can choose the highlight style I want. Perfect, but wait here’s the failure, there is no where I can select which notebook indent to save this highlight. Someone at Faithlife has decided for the users won‘t ever want to save a highlight created on a mobile device to a specific notebook even though same user, in same resource, using same highlight style can assign it to a notebook if using a desktop device.

This has been raised a number of times on the forums, Phil Gons promis at one point he’d get is fixed but here we are with another user raising same issue. The suggested ‘work around‘ of having to go back into the highlight and use Edit Note menu to assign it to a notebook is double handling and not acceptable therefore as a practical work around for as an extended period of time that FL has known about this issue.

    Martin,

Thank you for pointing that out. That will work. It is a bit confusing to have two different places, starting from the hamburger menu lower right, to go see a whole list of notebooks. So I have to go to the "Notes" screen to see notebooks and add a new one. Then I have to go to the "Notebook for highlights" screen to pick the one I just created. And I still can't pick the notebook directly in the highlighting tool.

As Disciple II points out, we used to be able to pick a notebook when highlighting (before the new generation of notes/notebooks). Since that's still possible when adding a note, it's not clear why it's not possible when highlighting. It's a real headache.

    Thanks again,

    Donnie
