How Are We to Live By Faith on Divine Providence? -- Thomas Lye
I heard a sermon preached on Psalm 62 recently so I ran Psalm 62 through the passage guide in Logos. In the sermons section of my library, I had a hit for a sermon by Thomas Lye, a puritan. If you have ever tried to read through puritan sermons, you probably know they get way into the weeds, so to speak, and can be somewhat frustrating to follow because they make so many points and subpoints.
It's no wonder many of us were taught in seminary to stick to a three-point sermon.
So, before taking a long walk today as a reprieve from our stay-at-home order here in L.A., I basically reduced Lye's sermon to his outline only and used it to meditate on my walk. I thought it might be a blessing to you as you trust in God's providence during these trying days.
