Why are Labels & Highlights Translation specific?

Hi.

I have just worked through a tutorial on creating my own labels on "Attributes of God". The presenter used NASB95, so I used the same translation for the tutorial. But, I use the ESV. So when I did the search I have created based on the NASB95, I got no results.

Is there a fix/bridge/solution for this? I am a 2nd language English user. My first language is Afrikaans. So I have discovered over time my highlights in my preferred Afrikaans Bibles, are not carried over to my other translations. I hope there is a solution to this that I have not picked up yet.

In general, there are two types of notes:

those created by reference (linked to a verse)
those created by selection (linked to a particular portion of text)

Notes created by reference are visible across all versified resources (Bibles, commentaries) while notes created by selection are specific to a particular resource.

Highlights and user-created Labels are (effectively) notes created by selection which is why you are seeing the behaviour you describe.

If you enable the resource visual filter "notes and highlights (corresponding)" - which can be filtered by notebook - you can see highlights and notes created by selection from other resources. But this only works for resources that have reverse-interlinears (it is this that provides the linkage) so I don't think it would work in the case of the Afrkaans Bibles.

Search results can be mapped to other translations by enabling the "corresponding search results" visual filter for the resource.

The search string you used in the last screenshot, is "Discipleship" your own Label? I tried to do a search with the exact string and got no results. (I always try replicate search strings I come across to see what I can learn.)

Is it worth all the time & effort in constructing your own Labels?

Sorry, yes, it is a label I created. I should have made that clear.

Is it worth all the time & effort in constructing your own Labels?

I haven't done much of it but I found this particular exercise worth doing.

I was reading through the Gospels looking at different aspects of discipleship as seen demonstrated by the followers of Jesus and constructed a set of labels that related to different aspects - learning, observing, etc. Now I can search for these different aspects of discipleship to easily find where they are referenced.

They do. Graham actually explained it - the underlying same Greek text, associated to bibles by way of the reverse interlinear datasets, is the magic. It means that your highlights in the NASB will show up in the ESV and vice versa, if you want. Unfortunately, I don't know of any Afrikaans or Dutch bibles with reverse interlinear functionality, yet.
