Logos 8 hangs
Why does Logos 8 hang on my desktop? Hangs when I try to open a new resource (takes forever), hangs when I scroll up a page or two, and hangs when I try to switch between open resources in a layout (complete with "not responding" up on the left next to the name of the layoff. I have no issues with Logos 8 on my laptop... and... it wasn't always this way on the desktop. This started a few months ago. I'm just getting around to asking. :-)

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Some things to help track this down:
- are you using Mac or Windows on your desktop?
- What are the specs of your desktop?
- Are any other applications exhibiting performance problems?
- Are these problems consistent? Does it, for example, alway "take forever" when opening a new resource?
- Have you checked your desktop for any hardware issues?

3. No. Other programs and apps run quite well.
4. Yes. It's all the time. Any time I want to change a resource, i know it's going to hang. When I'm reading more than a page or two in a resource, I'll open a floating window for that resource... doesn't completely eliminate the problem of hanging when scrolling, but does reduce the frequency of scrolling.

Two things that I find affect the performance I see:
- You have checked that there is no indexing going on? I've thought there wasn't when the system in actually rebuilding an index
- You don't have too many visual filters or filters that take some time to build because of complex criteria - either in the panel your viewing of something in the same link set.

1. No indexing. This is a problem that is there whether there is indexing or not.
2. No. At least not in my opinion... because I can open the same workspace/layouts on my laptop and there's never any hanging. This is only occurring on my desktop.

Please provide a screenshot of Task Manager when Logos is running

Close Logos and restart it with CTRL key held, so you open to a blank layout when signing in. It also starts logging. Perform the tasks that cause hangs, without loading a layout (try resources not in your layout). Report what issues there are. Then open a layout and repeat the tasks. Report issues and upload the log folder as per https://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging, using the paper-clip icon.
