How do I "Undo" in Notes?
I recently deleted a highlight, but the deletion also deleted my note (with a great deal of information) attached to the same verse. Is there a way to "Undo" as you would in Word?

Hi Marc, welcome to the forums!
Deleted notes go into the Notes Trash, where they can be recovered.
Here's a relevant thread that shows some screenshots of Notes Trash, and where it appears in the sidebar.

Thank you! I'm hopeful this can be recovered. I followed your guidance and see the note in Notes Trash, but do not see how to undelete. Can you guide further please?

After you select a note, a toolbar should appear at the bottom of the pane, saying "1 item selected," with Permanently delete and Undelete buttons.
Unfortunately, I can't get the footer to appear on the desktop, but it is working on the web app as a workaround.
If you're experiencing the same issue, note that I've posted a bug report about the toolbar not appearing. Hopefully we'll get an answer tomorrow!

The "Undelete" button and toolbar are not on either on my desktop or mobile application either. I called Logos Customer service and they said that is not an option anymore. And, could not find my deleted note from yesterday. I do see the "undelete" button on the web app...thanks for that suggestion. However, my note is not there. I deleted the note yesterday as the result of me highlighting a highlight and selecting the "Remove Highlighting" button. Not only did this remove my highlighting, but it also deleted my note (and a lot of work/time invested in said note). In my trashed notes, the last record of a deleted note was 17 days ago...nothing from yesterday. Very odd and frustrating.
Customer Service said I should not be creating individual notes, but notebooks (which I would have to figure out how to do). Soapbox warning: generally speaking, notes has so much potential, but needs work. The lack of an Undo option, ease of deletion (either a paragraph or a whole note), and not syncing with Word (especially bullet formatting) are major sore spots for me.

I don't understand this statement
As per screenshot below I see the option to either undelete or permanently delete a note when a deleted note is selected in the trash area
Please post a screenshot showing what you see.

That is very strange - I don't understand why that is the case

It is totally legimitate to create individual notes outside of notebooks - I do it all the time. There are reasons for using notebooks but it is not a requirement.

You mention that you are using desktop and mobile. Are you checking the same device's Notes Trash that you deleted the note from? It might be that notes hadn't synched between devices yet.
The "Undelete" button and toolbar are not on either on my desktop or mobile application either. I called Logos Customer service and they said that is not an option anymore.
I just checked mobile (iOS) and the option is still there. Not sure what Customer Service was referring to.
Selecting notes to undelete works slightly differently on mobile. You have to first use the panel menu (3 vertical dots) to switch to Select mode, then tap the note, and the selection footer appears.
Sorry for the frustration, Marc. Hopefully someone can figure out why your most recent note isn't showing up in Trashed Notes.

It's not a sync issue...I've opened up trashed notes in desktop, mobile and the web version, plus called customer service and they could not find the trashed note. My theory is since I did not delete the note it was not in trash. The note was deleted when I highlighted the verse, with highlighting, and clicked "delete highlight." I think this is a flaw in the system.

Why do you think you didn't delete it? An alternative theory could be that the first time you opened trash, the last deleted note being selected, you accidentally hit "permanently delete" and that's why it's gone now.
The note was deleted when I highlighted the verse, with highlighting, and clicked "delete highlight."
I'm not sure where the application would say that. In the context menu it says "delete notes and highlights", which is much more clear than the former "remove annotations", but basically does the same: it deletes the notes and highlights (which collectively are annotations managed by the Notes tool), and when the selected text has more than one (could be highlights of various length and colors, could be notes, but actually when the annotations are anchored to a selection those different kinds are just different use of tags that control existence, form and color of a note icon and of a highlighter), all those that apply to the selected text where you want to remove them will be deleted.
Have joy in the Lord!

I never accidentally hit "permanently delete." You could try to recreate the scenario of creating a note with a highlight in the same verse, then highlight the highlight and note; left click; click "delete highlight" to see if a note is in your trashed notes. Why don't you try that out and let me know what happens?

I just tried it on the desktop, running Logos 8.14, and here's what happened.
- Selected a verse. Highlighted it.
- Added a note within the Notes tool
- Re-selected the verse, and chose Remove Highlighting from the Selection Menu popup.
The note is not deleted, but the highlight is removed from the note. I can still see the note itself in the Notes tool.
Might want to double-check your unfiltered notes to see if it is still there, as it won't end up in the trash.
click "delete highlight"
What platform are you on? What version of Logos? I don't see "Delete Highlight" on mobile or desktop.
(FYI, the web's Selection Menu behaves differently. It says "Delete notes and highlights" and it does put the note/highlight in the trash.)

Thanks Petah...you have been most helpful.
I've run the same scenario 4x on the Logos 8.14 desktop version, and the note has deleted in each run. Delete highlight appears on the desktop version when you highlight a verse, left click, and hover over the circle with a line through it ("general prohibition sign," "no symbol," "circle-bakslash symbol," etc.). Did you try this on the desktop version, because that is the only scenario I ran, and where this issue happened?
"Might want to double-check your unfiltered notes to see if it is still there, as it won't end up in the trash."
How do I find unfiltered notes?
Thank you!

Not seeing that behavior with 8.14 on the desktop, either on Mac or Windows. If you look at verse 18 in the LEB, it's not highlighted anymore, but its note (Note 3) from 25 minutes ago is still in my notes, not the Notes Trash.
(Nothing recent is ending up in the trash -- the highlight is removed, but the note itself remains.)
Would you please send a screenshot of your Notes Trash so we can see what's appearing there? You also may need to post logs (using the paperclip icon on your forum post) so someone could try to identify exactly what's going on to make your notes disappear.

What platform? Mac or Windows? What version of the OS, please?
I've checked both, and each tooltip shows "Remove highlighting" for the circle-backslash.
Are you looking at a different menu? If so, would you post a screenshot of what you see, please, to help identify if there is some inconsistent notes behavior, depending on how the highlight is deleted?
How do I find unfiltered notes?
By unfiltered, I meant all notes, no (sidebar) filters applied (which might have hidden the note you were looking for).
If you see "All (x,xxx results)" at the top of the Notes pane, your notes are not being filtered. If you saw "All > Type: Highlights (x,xxx results)," those notes are filtered to only show highlights, not notes. You can click on the word "All" to remove any filters.

Windows 10. In taking some screenshots, and rerunning the scenario, I found my "deleted" note...so, that's great news! Here's the play by play. Let me know you thoughts.
I created a note in verse 18. The note says TEST 7/2/20 (though it's 7/3...I'm tired...I've been studying all day). Haha.
Next, I removed highlighting. From the verse, the Note icon disappeared from vs 18, but now I am still seeing the note in my Unfiltered notes. (sidenote: I think I need to clean up how many notes are deleted in my unfiltered notes).

Windows 10. So, good news. In re-running the scenario, I found my "deleted" note in my Unfiltered notes, so that's great news. Take a look at this play by play though and let me know your thoughts:
I created a note on vs 18:
I highlight the verse and note, left click and select, the circle/backslash symbol to "remove highlighting." The note icon disappears from verse 18, but the note remains in my unfiltered notes...minus the note icon.

Windows 10. Good news, I found my missing note! It was in the unfiltered notes. Let me share some screen shots so you can see what is happening on my end. (Sidenote: I now see I have a lot of notes I legitimately need to delete).
I created a note on vs 18. The note is "TEST 7/3/20."
When I highlight the note, left click, click circle/backslash "remove highlighting," the note icon disappears from vs 18 and from unfiltered notes, but the content of the note remains in unfiltered notes.

That’s great, Marc, I’m glad you found your missing note!
(The screenshots aren’t showing up. You can use the paperclip icon to upload them to the forum, so they will be visible to other people.)

Wow! All those extra replies of mine were unintentional. I kept getting an error message stating the reply had not posted.
Anyhow, check out the response I received from the Faithlife Support Dept. below. They recreated the issue of the note icon disappearing and submitted it to the development team.

We were able to reproduce this here locally! We are unsure if removing the note indicator styling is supposed to be removed as well so we will be submitting a case to our development team to remove this. Thank you once again for the help!
