Morning, I was looking to buy the original The New American Bible and couldn't find it. I know some people have it, but all I see available now is the revised edition (NABRE), which I already own. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks
It was pulled because of the release of the NABRE. If you try to buy the original as a physical copy from USCCB Publications, you'll find the NABRE instead. ( http://store.usccb.org/searchresults.asp?Search=%22new+american+bible%22&Submit=Submit )
I'm (obviously) not an expert on NAB>NABRE, but I read NABRE updated the OT, but not the NT (maybe at the time). Looking now at NAB>NABRE, the OT definitely changed its mind ... you don't have to look far. The NT looks the same, so if changes, harder to find (same major notes, though app.logos.com couldn't pull NABRE's special notes ... didn't try app.verbum.com since it doesn't know Denise).
Hi Denise, unfortunately even the NT was drastically changed. Look at the original on Mattew 7:13-14: Only NAB clearly reflects the exclamatory form: “But how narrow is the gate … how rough the road … how few there are!” Can you sell me your copy? I know you have it from another post! haha
SineNomine, there must be some other explanation, for if this were true we would have only the latest versions of every Bible. Unless you meant the publisher and copyright owners decided to sell only their latest release, but even that would be weird... hmm [:)]

The NAB has been released in 4 editions, with copyrights of: 1970, 1986, 1991, 2010.
The New Testament was completely revised for the 1986 edition. To the best of my knowledge, the 1970 NT has never been available electronically, and the chances of anyone producing it while the copyright is active is pretty much zilch. Sorry.
In 1991, the Psalms were revised. In 2010, the entire Old Testament was revised, including another revision of the Psalms. The 2010 revision is the one marketed as NABRE.
The Logos edition prior to the publication of the NABRE was the 1991 NAB with revised New Testament and Psalms. That is no longer available for sale since the NABRE was published, as SineNomine explained.
Interestingly, the Wordsearch edition of the NAB was the 1986 revision, which looks like it is going to be reproduced as a Logos resource for migrated WS users who had it.

Marcus, I don't sell Bibles (smiling). Maybe not a best answer for you, but if WS had an NAB, maybe FL will move it over? If no WS version, or if not move over, then $20 (the transfer fee).
Headache'y but I don't know how I got it (FL limits transfers of a single copy, if part of a package). I'm pretty sure it's a single, since Libby likes it.
If you don't succeed in purchasing an NAB (from the WS transfer?), then come back here (January or so?).
I agree, the NABRE changes seem arbitrary-ish.
