L9 Preaching Mode Discussion
Description: With Preaching Mode, your sermon outline or manuscript is easy to read, you get a clear view of all your slides, and a built-in timer gives you a heads-up if you’re going long. And it works perfectly offline.

I wish there was the option of using scrolling for the preaching mode. I often reference a text that I read a few sentences before and scrolling keeps both on the same page instead of having to be flipping pages to look at a text and my notes just two or three lines after the text.

In the settings you can switch to 'scrolling mode' [:)]
Also loving that keyboard shortcuts for changing screen work too.

Thanks for sharing that. I didn't notice it. That is so nice.

Does anybody know how to remove the slides from view? We don’t use proclaim or the slides created here. It’s taking up a lot of space.

HI Don - and welcome to the forums

There is a button to do this
But, as far as I can see, this button is available on the desktop and on the phone (I have tested iPhone and Android) but is not available on a tablet (I have tested iPad).
Unless I am missing something, it would be good if this button were added to the tablet implementation as well

Does anyone know how to access the preaching mode from an android app? I watched the video instruction and can't seem to find the icon to open up to preaching mode.

HI Blake - and welcome to the forums

On my Android phone, it is the small icon just to the left of the three vertical dots at the top right of the screen
Do you see anything there?

How does this new mode work with Proclaim? The way I have done it in the past is to send my sermon to proclaim and then control the presentation when I preach advancing slides and my sermon together with a swipe of the finger. It was nice to be able to have my notes by my slides and to be able to have the slides advance all on my tablet. Is that possible with preaching mode or will that require some other way (or more people) to do it?
I ask because I love the size and style of preaching mode from what I can tell, and the notes on proclaim are small.

You can try it out on the desktop app now. It will be coming to mobile soon.

FYI, we've fixed an issue in the mobile app today, where slides were displaying a gray background while connected to the internet, rather than your real slide backgrounds. This fix was server-side, meaning it doesn't require you to update your mobile app.
We also fixed an issue where UI may not display correctly after enabling/disabling slides. For web/desktop, this fix is live. For mobile, this will require an app update that will ship soon.

Glad to hear it Alan. A short-term workaround seems to be opening the sermon in preaching mode from the desktop, and then simply copying the url from the webpage that it launches into a browser on mobile.
Will you be adding the ability to advance slides with sub-points? Right now it appears you can advance to each slide, but there is no ability to reveal sub-points.
Example:
Slide Title <-- Visible
++ * Subpoint 1 <-- Can't reveal this sub-point
++ * Subpoint 2 <-- Can't reveal this sub-point.

This is a great suggestion, Chris. I'm not aware of those plans at the moment, but I will pass along the request.

Is there a way to resize the PPT at the top area?

See, that's funny. I posted a comment about preaching mode on the desktop app opening a browser window instead of just working from Logos itself, and was told that it was designed for mobile users (and desktop functionality is coming, or might be, or maybe not, who knows?). You would think that it would work from a mobile device it was designed to work with without having to copy a URL from the laptop/computer it wasn't designed to work with. But that's just me.

Used it last night for the first time while recording our virtual service. I thought it worked great. Takes about 5 minutes to get used to it. Turning the page, at least for me, is far better than scrolling. I used it on my 11in iPad Pro.

I appreciate that work-around!

Everything you said and was told is true. The situation has more to do with how software is deployed and shipped.
The feature was developed with an emphasis on mobile. As a result, the mobile app includes offline functionality (something that took extra effort but we thought was important for customers).
In order to support offline functionality, the mobile apps necessarily include the code that generates the presentation view from the sermon. Meanwhile, desktop relies on a web service to provide that functionality. We can ship web services much easier than our apps (deployed to our hardware, no third party stores, etc).
That is why when we ship a new feature, it is available immediately on desktop. It will come to mobile in the next version to be bundled and shipped to the third party stores.
Hope that makes sense and demystifies the situation.

Additionally, if you would like to try this feature before it is shipped to "stable", you can join the beta (see [View:https://community.logos.com/forums/t/195496.aspx:550:0]). Slide control is available in the beta that was made available this morning.

Today I used Preaching Mode for the first time, but unfortunately my screen got swallowed up every few minutes by a prompt to follow area presentations.
VERY distracting while preaching.
is this a glitch or is there a setting I need to adjust?
p.s. I had it open on my iPhone running 9.1.1 on beta on iOS14.2

I don't know why this appeared when in Preaching mode but you should be able to disable this message from the Church Presentations area of the menu you show when tapping the three vertical lines icon at the bottom right of the screen

Agreed, that's a bad experience, and I'm sorry it happened. As a workaround, you can change your setting like Graham mentioned. I've passed your experience onto the team, and they're investigating a way to prevent this from happening in the future.

Just upgraded to L9 Silver today, went to ipad and likewise did not see preaching mode either. I would greatly appreciate if they make that mode available for ipad.

Which version of the app do you have on your iPad? Preaching mode is available so I'm not sure what the issue is
Did you purchase the Silver feature set as well as the library?

This will be fantastic! Any news on when this might be available from a mobile device? I preach from an iPad Pro, and while the rest of our Proclaim presentation is run from a member of our data team, being able to have the flexibility to control the preaching slides as I preach would be a game changer!

I agree!!! Preaching Mode on an iPad (especially the timer feature) would be very helpful.

This - being able to control Proclaim slides from the Logos app - is in the 9.1 beta release so will be generally available when it ships to the stable channel. I don't know when that will be.

This is available now - are you not seeing it?
If not, which L9 package do you have?

Great news! I look forward to seeing it pop up in the near future.

Hey brother, the preaching mode is available on my iPad (it's fantastic), I was just missing the ability to control Proclaim with it (as is available on the desktop/laptop) version of L9.
