L9 Factbook Discussion
Description: When you have to squeeze sermon prep between that hospital visit and the deacon meeting, there’s no time to waste. Just search for your sermon passage or topic to find curated overviews. Or dive deep into trusted sermon resources. In addition to people, places, and concepts, Factbook now supports lookup for Bible passages, Greek and Hebrew lemmas and word senses, original manuscripts, authors, resources, and much more. Factbook is available for mobile for the first time!
I think I'm most excited about this as well as the increased speed of mobile.
Using adventure and community to challenge young people to continually say "yes" to God

It’s astonishing how good this is. I’m kinda blown away. Incredibly fast, ridiculously broad and deep coverage, pleasant to navigate - it’s just a real treat.
The only negative for me is the media section - in a perfect world, I’d be able to open the desired search result as full-screen, zoomable image. As it stands, the section is useless to me - it opens the web-app to a section geared more toward printing or exporting the image rather than viewing it.

I would like to SECOND that!

I keep playing around with Factbook and am blown away. One can search a person and their books show up. Also, the lemma search! And grammar search! This could replace a lot of googling users do.

Hi, Factbook does not work on my tablet if I have set the language of the Czech system. If I switch to English it's ok. (Galaxy Tab S7 - Android 10)

Thanks. We'll take a look. Since Factbook doesn't support Czech, I would have expected this to fall back to English automatically.

Initial impressions are "WOW".
Can't wait to get the time to really dig in with Morris Proctor later0 -

Thanks for the report! This will be fixed in the next Android stable release that is published.

If you tap the icon with three horizontal lines at the bottom right of the screen, you get a list of options. Factbook should be near the top
Does that help at all?

Hello there.
I have an Android phone, so this may not completely answer your question.
When I looked the first time (yesterday morning) I could not find the FactBook.
Today, however, I can find it near the top of the menu, under "popular" and further down under "Tools".
To find the menu, open a resource in your app (a book, etc). You may need to tap the screen, but at the bottom you should see the 5 icons: home, read/library, plans/layouts, search, and the three lines for menu. Tap on the menu icon and it will slide out. Then scroll up/down to look for Factbook.

Graham, it wasn't there when I clicked on the 3 dots. Does it require a Fl Connect mobile subscription? I had everything on that drop down except Factbook.
0 -
3 lines, not 3 dots - they’re different menus. The three dots are for verse-related tools, but the three lines are a way of jumping to any tool.
Just to check, you have bought Logos 9, yes?

Does it require a Fl Connect mobile subscription?
You will need either a Faithlife Connect subscription or to have purchased a base package that includes as least the Starter Feature Upgrade
0 -
I'll look for the 3 lines. By buy, I have 8 up to the gold package, but I haven't purchased Features and I don't have Connect. The web page isn't very clear as to access to Factbook. I'm probably wrong but I though you got Factbook on all platforms without a paid subscription.

Ah, no. The Factbook on Mobile is a new feature with Logos 9. You need to own Logos 9 or subscribe to FL Connect in order for it to appear as an option.

Thanks James, I'll need to re-subscribe to Connect.

Ok so the Emma’s have showed up if I type a person but not a theological concept like justification. They did not show up either if I type in faith. A bit confused why it shows up sometimes and not others.

Sorry Tim but I'm not following you here.

Like so many of LBS features, this one has great potential. I do like what's been done to enhance this feature. However, here's something I noticed. Karl Barth has two different entries in the Factbook dropdown menu. Same person, of course. But each of them returns different results. The first Barth entry has a Works section which includes links to the Church Dogmatics. It also has one item under Letters (in my library): a letter included in a Bonhoeffer volume. The second Barth entry does not have a Works section. It does have a Books from Your Library section. Even though I own the Church Dogmatics, none of these volumes are listed. I also own Barth in Conversation (all 3 volumes). Volumes 1 and 3 are listed in this section, but not 2. What a mess.

Lemmas don’t always show up for a search, even if I type in a word like “faith.” Why is this?

Lemmas don’t always show up for a search, even if I type in a word like “faith.” Why is this?
Because the Factbook is matching against the word you enter and there isn't a lemma that matches f-a-i-t-h.
If you enter pistis you will get the lemma shown

But when I enter DAVID I get a lemma result...
Yes, because there is a match on letters (or maybe the underlying tagging - I'm not sure)
Try Peter where you will see a lemma but it has no relationship to the person Peter, it is just that the letters (at least the consonants) match

The lemma is a suggestion when you type "Faith", but it's crowded out by the other suggestions. If you select the "Show all for Faith" option (or use shift-enter), then you'll find lemma options grouped together.

The autocompleter does suggest matches on the gloss of the lemma.

So it does!
Sorry, Andrew, I missed that. Very nice!!
