Surprising news about a Bible in Ethiopia.

I have
heard yesterday in the news ‘’the first Bible 1600 years old’’ ,which has been
discovered by Anglo-French archeologists in Ethiopia in the Tigray region from
the Town of Adwa about 12 km away to the east in a place known as ‘’Endabagerima’
as it is said the Bible is supported with many pictures.
Blessings in Christ.

Found this article with more info (assuming this is the same animal): http://blog.taragana.com/science/2010/07/06/worlds-oldest-illustrated-christian-manuscript-found-in-ethiopian-monastery-17786/
There are, of course, many Bible manuscripts that are more than 1600 years old and some 1600 year old Bibles are more complete (this is a Gospels manuscript). So the claim to fame here is 'the oldest illustrated Bible', rather than 'the oldest Bible'. Rather than a new discovery, this seems to be a new radio-carbon dating of a manuscript that was previously thought to be medieval. I wonder if that will result in a re-assessment of the value of Ethiopic witnesses for NT text criticism.

I would certainly think that it should. In the very least, the issue should be considered, whether action of any sort is done or not. I'd be interested in running a Logos report that would show me the differences between this text and say, the NA27 [;)]nudge[;)]nudgeVincent Setterholm said:I wonder if that will result in a re-assessment of the value of Ethiopic witnesses for NT text criticism.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Oh, I meant to add....
I would like to hope that some of the vividly illustrated pages would become available online.
.The Ethiopian Heritage Fund has conserved the vividly illustrated pages and it is hoped that the two volumes will be made available to visitors to the monastery,.

Okay, with all the justifiable excitement for this, where's the support for the early Georgian, Armenian, Old Church Slavonic, Gothic, Anglo-Saxon texts? (I wouldn't want to be accused of missing an opportunity to nudge Logos on these.[:)])
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
