I was just wondering when and how Logos would release the new 2020 update of the New American Standard Bible (NASB). Will it be a free download or update? Grateful for any information.
Will it be a free download or update?
In all likelihood, no. If a resource is updated and the publisher considers the updates part of the "same" resource, then updates are automatic and free.
In this case, this is a completely new resource altogether. You would have to purchase it, and it would appear as a new resource in your library.

No idea. Typically resources go on "pre-pub" before they are released in Logos. That process can be short or long. The resource is not currently in pre-pub... take that as you will.
It is not unheard of for a resource to jump into production quickly, which might happen here. On the other hand, Bibles probably take much more time than some other resources to convert, add RI's, etc.
Thank you, JT.
Occasionally they also just... appear, already Live.
Thank you, but where? I don't see it Live anywhere.
The comment was intended to say, "sometimes books just appear available for sale, without any pre-pub process at all." It wasn't in reference to the NASB2020 in particular.

It's here in Pre-Pub https://www.logos.com/product/198302/the-new-american-standard-bible-2020-update
Thank you, Ted!
VERY IMPORTANT! WILL THIS BE A STAND ALONE OR WILL MY 1995 DISAPPEAR?
Sorry for the caps but they are for emphasis.
You are purchasing a new permanent resource licence. This should have no impact upon the existing permanent resource licence in your library, They are two separate permanent licences. FL should not remove a resource from your library for which you have a legitimate permanent licence.
IMHO

Stand alone as always when you purchase a new resource. The only way an old resource would disappear is if the update were free and considered "the same resource" as the one being replaced.
I just found out that The NASB20 is in production to be published by Logos sometime soon. The price is only $6.99.
Glad everyone is happy about 2020, but I would be twice as happy if they fixed 1977 with notes and highlighting (corresponding) I use this version more than any other- duplicating hilites across other bibles is a pain.

That would require reverse interlinear functionality
I suggest you enter this as a feature request at https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/logos-resource-updates and encourage people to vote for it
Any idea when NASB 2020 will come out? Usually, the pre-production green line indicates how far along they are, but there is no indication when will it take place.
Is there any update on when the NASB 2020 will be available?
Why is it taking so long?
Ken
It is my opinion that the NAS20 has been given low priority. I don't care anyway. I have read so many negative things about this update that I will cancel my order the moment Logos releases it. Try waiting for the LSB (Legacy Standard Bible) that will be finished in the fall. As for Logos, who knows when they will release it after that.

Why not cancel it now, then?

I don't know all the details, but I heard that late April is our current estimate if all goes well.
I'm sorry it's taken so long.
Thanks Phil,
Hopefully, Faithlife can achieve, or even better, beat that timeframe.
Do you have any idea why it's taken so long?
Cheers

I don't have specifics, but if I had to guess I'd say Logos 9, Wordsearch, and Same-Day Release titles were prioritized higher and pushed it out a bit.
I've asked the team to start prioritizing new Bibles and treat them as Same-Day Releases as often as possible.

I read about some of the included alterations, and I am probably 30/70 in the "not happy" column. There may be some helpful updates (I sent them about half-a-dozen or more typos plus some needed [my opinion] translation improvements), but making the "most literal English version" into a "more reader friendly version" is probably going to lose Lockman the only solid readership they had. Granted, most people prefer easy over legit, but becoming "one of the crowd", especially in a Bible market saturated with "easy-reading" Bibles, seems like a successful suicide mission. I was looking forward to my fave Bible getting better--now, I'm probably not going to pick it up until it's been rolled into base packages after the new car smell has worn off.
There is no way to cancel it now.
Have you thought about the LSB (Legacy Standard Bible) which is nothing but a glorified NAS95?
