Serious?? Yes, I understand you're point (and agree). But even a light reading of some of FL's marketing does suggest a leg-up at the pearly gates. Surely Peter's at least consulted with Marketing.

Spent on print editions, every book will get you closer to heaven. By how much depends on the thickness of the book and how you build the steps.
It would take a longer time with a digital library as you would have to build the steps out of worn-out hard-drives and they are the very devil to balance on.

I think I got 2728. I just got this, haven't a clue how to use it yet. But been wondering, I really could just stick to E-Sword and strong word, and have just as much joy with the simplicity of the gospel, the very good news about the new life and the kingdom.
When the china had the bigger persecutions against the Christian, there where no big library, and many had not even seen a bible before, but they had the holy spirit and the praise to Him. Some died and some ended in prison for 20 years with hard suffering for Christ, without any bible. Yet, how they shined with the glory of Christ in the mitts of their suffering. Not hard to see how affected they where by Christ and he's move inside of them.Books and resources are nice, but can as well be a trap. On the other side, we have got a lot from books and the history, and by others digging, and we thank them. But all the books and Christians tv show does not necessary makes us closer to Him. Funny this thing. Lets not put any doubt on sermons. Their good, necessary, and very encouraging, its Gods work at He's will. But when God speak very personally to me, He always point me to something I personally read in the bible, not so often about what another preacher said one time. I just wanted to emphasising the importance of eating Gods word, its food. And I eat for my own cause, just as I eat my daily bread. Taking care of me that way.
I just think we should remember does facts, without the holy spirit where lost, even in our study, with this tool. With just a touch on the key, we can search for terms and other stuff, where in past we had to heavily lean on by faith for our answers. Must this not get lost in this tool... Sorry if I'm ignorant about this tool, its just so new to me.
Lets pray for and with each other right now, in this place, so we can use this tool as it should be used. I'll bless you, and you bless me, and lets join a blessing ring of fire between us... Its a strong effect in a righteous mans prayer and blessings, and by faith where just as righteous as any in the old and new testament because of Christ scarifies. By faith on Christ alone and he's wonderful name Jesus, he declare us righteous, as a free gift. Later on he circumcised our heart as a seal on that faith we just had, just as he did with Abraham. Oh, how precious He is against us.
I'll just bless you all in here, and pray that God will open up our eyes so we can grasp our realities about us in Christ, and the inheritance we he have been given in Christ. And to share this good free gift as God has freely given us, so other can get some heavenly food, give them food. So many starving because they do not eat the food or the right kind of food, or the food for the right time, the word of God. And help us to never let go of the living dependant faith, just to replace it with just a keyword search. Help us with that balance in Jesus name. Amen!0 -

Agree with you Hugo. Balance is important. Keeping the scriptures front and centre to all that we do with this tool and the writings of others, we need to keep coming back to the scriptures and not replace them with our Logos Libraries. And we need the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives so much more than our Logos libraries. At the same time God in his providence has gifted and worked in the lives of those who have written these books, of those who created this software and we should be thankful in his providence he had brought it into our lives as a tool through which we can carry on the work of his Kingdom in this particular time and place. Why is and not those in our same time in other places? I don’t have the answer but let’s respect it’s proper place and use our Logos Libraries wisely and discerningly if we do have them.

So here is another challenge. Open up your library and expand the sidebar. Click on the item "Reading Status" and see how many resources are in the status of "Reading" vs "Finished" and "Unread". I played around a bit and if you open up a book and scroll a bit you will hit maybe 1 or 2% and that figure will show up in the Information panel and the resource goes to "Reading".
Probably not a super accurate reflection of how much one has used the resources but it is an interesting number to consider in light of all the resources that we own.

9,391 for me. I agree that quantity doesn't equal quality. Logos offers great deals on large catalogues of books; I would love to be able to put together my own catalogue. I'm a preaching pastor, not an academician, and so I just don't need every possible theological viewpoint represented in my commentaries. I appreciate the Greek and Hebrew resources very much, but I don't need Latin, German, etc.
I also don't have time to read the 99 commentaries on Matthew in my library. My ongoing effort is not to expand my library, but to curate it into small, meaningful collections.
That being said, the one commentary I use without fail (it's first in my reading) is Abernathy's Exegetical Summaries, which gathers and presents summaries from major commentaries and Lexicons.

Not only the number, but also the percentage of our libraries that are Reading/Finished is illuminating. Of course, both how long we've been using Logos/Verbum and whether we just added a bunch of books recently will affect those numbers.

Wow, I've had just the opposite experience with these (though if you are not from the USA you might not have as much interest). I have found great sermons, tracts on both political and religious issues, profiles of religious movements and ideas, a lot of fascinating history from the American Civil War period, etc. My Quakerism collection is formed almost exclusively from the American History Collection, as one example of the usefulness of this collection to me.
One person's gold is another person's dross, I suppose. I did tag all these (as I did with Perseus) so I can exclude them from my searches and from browsing in Library when I don't want to see them.

I just passed 6,000 resources. I am neither a theologian nor a pastor, nor an engineer. Just an ESL teacher. But I think I love God's word. And it probably shows in my rather expensive hobby of Logos book buying.

It certainly might not, but my library of 8,500-ish was mostly obtained through large bundles which were the cheapest way of obtaining a much smaller number of resources I had on my wishlist.
Plus there are a huge number of freebies (4 a month plus a large number of permanent ones, plus things like Themelios which aren't all totally free, but years worth of recent issues are free with a voucher code that is automatically applied when getting them from the Themelios site). There are also some resources which might be published as a single book but Logos breaks them up into a bundle of separate resources - so e.g. I think Philip Comfort's The Text of the New Testament from Earliest Greek Manuscripts would be one book in print, but it's dozens of separate resources in Logos (one for each manuscript) - there are similar collections elsewhere that inflate the number beyond what people less familiar with how Logos resources work might expect.
The point is that the number can go up surprisingly fast in a number of different ways.

My Logos library is 9,771. But these books were purchased slowly, but pretty consistently, since about 1991. There are many Logos users with much larger libraries.
