Purchasing Bible versions for use in Proclaim

Hi
I just want to check. If I purchase a bible version can other users in my church group use it when they are compiling services in Proclaim?

I don't think so Aaron, the bible versions link back to your personal Logos library and the resources you own there.
The good news is that Logos Bibles are quite inexpensive and folk involved with worship planning are likely to want their own copy for reading plans, personal study etc.

Hi Aaron,
Outside of the bibles that come with Proclaim their are some restrictions on how we are able to share content. As odd as it sounds these Bibles are still under copyright use with the publisher and we have not arrange for all bibles to be used by more than one person. That being said, in Logos when you purchase a bible it is registered to the one user account (username/email) and only usable by that one user account unless you were to purchase that version of the bible for multiple accounts. Many Churches create either a generic account others can login to for the presentation team (e.g. mediateam@church.com) as well as have the personal emails of members can use to login. With a shared email you can make the purchase of additional bible versions under the generic account for others to upload if needed.0 -

Personally, I think it is rather silly to make people serving in a church's media ministry to have to purchase Bibles under their own user ID to use in Proclaim. It is not like anyone is going to be using Proclaim for their own personal use! If they are using those Bibles in Logos or the FaithLife Bible app or the web app, then they should have to purchase them, but not to use in Proclaim. If anything the cost of the Bibles should be included in the church's Proclaim subscription fee.

Please don't make the cost of subscribing to Proclaim any more onerous because a church won't invest a less than a tenner for each of its worship team that is likely to have to initiate the inclusion of a bible verse that has to match exactly the translation in general use.
It is not as if there are no Bibles included with Proclaim including, for those with an anti'u' proclivity, the excellent LEB and, the ASB.

I’m not in agreement at all. Your implication is that we are being cheap. When it is not like as a church that we don’t already invest significantly in our media ministry, which includes paying for a FAITHLIFE Equip/Proclaim annual subscription. As a church we use the NKJV as our primary version. which is one of the more commonly used Bible versions these days, but is not included in the Proclaim subscription. So should we have to invest $60 more because we rotate 6 media team people? I don’t think so! FAITHLIFE should just make all versions available with the subscription or charge a one time 1 user fee with the Proclaim subscription. To make us pay $10 for each version for each user at a single location is insane.

We know that Logos negotiated only single-user licenses for many years. You don't know which Bibles to which they have the rights for group licenses. Give them the benefit of the doubt or find out what the actual facts of the situation are, please.

I don't know about your folk but we moved from the NIV '84 to NIV '11 and lot weren't keen but most actually signed up to buy a personal bible in the new translation. They would have been delighted to get a copy for less than £10.
The team involved with Proclaim just bought their version digitally and got a bargain in every sense of the word.
It also worth noting that the text of the NKJV is available on-line and can be copied and pasted into a content item in exceptional circumstances.
If Faithlife were to include, in the subscription, all the translations that might be required for as many folk as the church would like to sign up as co-presenters I imagine that the business model would soon collapse under the weight of the licences costs.
That really would be insane.
I think, from the list I posted above, that Faithlife are not stingy with their offering and have provided all the translations that it is economically viable to provide.

I see this is an old thread, but it's still an issue. In our church for years we were using the American version of the NIV, rather than the Anglicised (UK) version which is not free, and which is the most commonly used version in churches in the UK.
Displaying US spellings on screen in church is a big turn-off for many people, but I expect many churches put up with this as otherwise every leader on the worship team would have to buy a licence. The list provided here might look long, I don't see any modern versions in UK English on this list. Would Faithlife consider adding the 2011 Anglicised NIV to this list?0 -

That is only true if 'every leader on the worship team' insists on adding the readings themselves. If there were a limited number (say those involved in preparing the preaching) with a licence for the 2011 Anglicised NIV just added the readings to the Proclaim list the results would propagate to the other users.
I would think that most involved in preparing the message would have a licence as part of their Logos set up.
