A27 Beach Ball on reactivate and scrolling if internet on

I sense we are getting close so I am going to start posting more of my issues. The Alphas are awesome and I am excited by the rapid fire progress. I still have a difficult time using the Alpha on my Snow Leopard install though as I get beach balls and pauses on every scroll of a resource if connected to the internet. Turn internet off and I am fine. If I make another window active over L4 and then try to make L4 active I get one Core pegged and the application becomes unresponsive. I don't know if it would come back if left along but I usually just kill it.

Please see logs and let me know if there is more I can provide. You Mac devs are really making fantastic progress!

On you snow leopard instance, "Set Use Internet to No", then do the following for each resource id listed below:

1) Type "Open <ResourceId>" in the command bar, where ResourceId is like LLS:1.0.710

2) Select the first option that appears to open the resource, in the example above LLS:1.0.710 is the ESV.

3) Scroll the resource

4) Close the resource

5) Repeat steps 1-4 for each ResourceId listed below

I am having trouble getting the "Open LLS:46.30.9" command to work. Every time I type it into the command bar, it just does a search for the string and opens a search window. Any advice on how to get this command to work? Or can you tell me what 46.30.9 is?

Logos is unusable after 5 minutes unless I can clear this up.

I figured out that 46.30.9 is the DBL Greek - but that was just a lucky guess. It seems to clear the problem. I would still like to know how to get the straight "Open " command to work in the command line. I don't understand why it only gives me search choices. I tried to get a screen capture of the drop down to post, but haven't figured that out yet.

Thank you. I just saw this today. I performed the steps as laid out. I believe I got all the files. I syncd then set Internet to yes but got the warning icon on my Sync button. I clicked and it appeared to sync anyway. I could scroll around for a little bit but then the same behavior returned. I am attaching logs in case they are useful. I see a couple UPDATE FAILED messages still but they appear to be on notes content if I am reading it correctly. I may try to run all these steps again and see what happens.

It is interesting that Tom's method did not work. Looking at your logs I noticed some of the same items having failed to sync and some different ones, though the new ones are not "books". Anyway. Could you post another set of logs and include your Console Message.log file in with the other two. Probably the easiest way to get it is to try another sync and then right after it fails to grab all three files, compress them, and post them. I'll file a bug report at that time.

Can do. That is my home machine though so it will be this evening. An interesting side note. After following the steps listed yesterday I had a return of the "numbered layout" syndrome. My primary reading right now is in Romans and when I am done at the end of reading I update my layout. This has proven to be a more reliable way to keep my different machines sync'd. At times 2 layouts will show up with one distinguished by a number. This hadn't happened for a while on my home machine but after last night's sync a Romans Study (8) Layout showed up. When I opened L4A27 at work today it was here too. I am not sure if that is meaningful or not. My work install continues to work flawlessly.

Here it is. Behavior a little different tonight. The scrolling was jerky and locked up with beach ball once but came back and was somewhat usable. L4 did not freeze on close either. It seemed to be constantly syncing though. I think I am going to open it up and let it sync for as long as it wants.

Are you running Windows as well as Mac? If so, what version are you running on the PC? Do you have an iPhone or iPad that you use as well to view resources? Just trying to figure out what usages patterns cause the recurring sync errors...

All of the above. To complicate matters I have also run the first Mac version from beta to complete as well. Here is a list of my primary platforms to give you and idea:

Work : L4 on Windows 7 in Parallels using beta channel

Work : L4 Mac on OS X 10.6

Home: L4 on Windows 7 in Parallels using beta channel

Home: L4 Mac on OX X 10.6.4

iPad on 1.4.2

iPhone on 1.4.2

I use the Mac at work 5 days a week for study at lunch. I use the Home setup 7 days a week but lately it has had to be Windows. I have switched back and forth between Windows and Mac at home based on Mac stability and Windows beta features. I used the iPhone regularly on Sunday morning until about a month ago when I got an iPad. Now I use it every Sunday morning and any time I am on the go and need to study.

I have no problem wiping out my Home Mac and starting over. This is all part of the Alpha and Beta (whoo hoo!) process. I had thought about copying my work install today and laying it over the home install tonight to see what happens. I don't want to do that if there is more information on that home install that might help you.

if you delete this file: /Volumes/Disk Two/robertgmullen/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/5ix03yjz.7eu/LibraryCatalog/LibraryCatalogSync.db, does the problem go away?

Yes it was. Deleting it does not appear to make a difference.
