I am reading the bible in 90days using ESV Auido

All I got to say think God for Jesus and grace. I am in Deuteronomy day 11 or so of my 90-day journey. I am not seeing much grace yet. The only time God seems to give is when Moses steps in and asks God to back off.

I have never read the bible or listen to it. I have study books etc but never a read-through of the whole bible. I highly doubt I would have lived that long under the law. It is neat how God provided for poor people. He allowed them to use turtle doves and pigeons as offings. What is so fun about listening to the audio version of ESV is I am having dreams about it. I then wake up and want to go read/listen some more. LOL

I read or listen to to11 chapters a day. I am not dreaming of reading. The story so far is what I dream about LOL Today reading was Deuteronomy 1-11. I may read ahead 12-29 tonight.

Keep going with your reading Randall, grace can be found in the OT, it begins in the creation story when God tells us he purposely made us to be in his image. Look into other Ancient Near Eastern creation stories and you will find humanity was not purposely created in God's image. There is grace following the fall in the promise of Gen 3:15 and grace in God sacrificing an animal(s) to make skins for Adam & Eve to cover their shame. There is grace in the birth of Seth following Abels murder so that the Gen 3:15 promise could be kept. There is grace in God preserving Noah and Noah's family for humanity to continue - Noah's family was preserved not because of their own righteousness but Noah's. There is grace in the Rainbow and in the promises and covenant with Abraham, through the events of his life, of his descendants lives. There is grace in the story of Joseph and how that played out. Sure, just like today, bad things happened, and it might seem on the surface their was greater judgment then than now, but God in his grace is holding back that judgement for now, but as a result of his holiness that judgement will come, we see that in the book of Revelation. The whole bible is the story of God's grace, God's salvation that comes through Judgement. Others could possibly recommend other resources one worth taking a look at is: God’s Glory in Salvation through Judgment: A Biblical Theology | Logos Bible Software. Some good background resources to help you better understand the cultural and historical context might also help on your journey. But first keep reading, keep becoming acquainted with the text. As you read jot down things you don't understand, questions you have but don't get bogged down in trying to answer or understand them straight away, just keep reading, you can come back to your notes later.

I run the risk of being too theological in my response and of offending someone if I continue but I hope I have give you some things to think about, pray through and study and you seek to read God's word and grow greater in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so that all the glory may go to him ( 2 Peter 3:18) but I will leave you with one further thought and possible avenue of investigation. In Luke 24:13 ff post resurrection when Jesus meet the disciples on the road he took them through the OT (Moses and all the prophets) to explain God's grace, God's plan of salvation, for the NT had not yet been written. So I encourage you to prayerfully and patiently keep reading the whole of the scriptures, God's grace can be found throughout the OT and the new NT. The OT can be a hard read but there is a beauty about it, it's God's inspired Word and I will never tire of reading it and growing to better understand it.

I saw a Pastor name Jason Mayfield on Youtube this is how I got into reading the bible. He said people need to read it 3 times. He said first cover to cover then chronological and I guess read it again cover to cover. He also said the first time makes no sense and asks no questions. The 2nd time write all your questions down and by the time you are done with the 3rd reading most of your, questions should have been answered by the Holy Spirit.

I am 50 and I have never read the bible from cover to cover. I love Carman and I love his song "This is my Bible." I want to see the bible the way he sings about it I love the line I want to talk right and walk right. LOL My journey home started when I was looking up Carman and found out he died 2 days before. I spent the last 3 months listening to his music and praising God. Now God is leading me to read the bible. I dusted off Logos and started using it again. I am still sad and shocked Carman died. I am not sure what God is doing but I am game. I used to help out in Sunday school and Karios Prison Ministry.

I appreciated Carman also Randall, I too was shocked when he passed as I have many great memories of listening to and enjoying his ministry through music, especially I will always remember "The Champion". I will have to listen to some Carman again this weekend including "This is my Bible". In my youth I had a lot of his music on Cassette Tapes.

Three times is a good starting point, but don't stop there. Just keep reading it, God will speak to us and bring new questions and answers to us through the prompting of the Holy Spirit on our 10th, 15th or even 50th time reading through his Word.

I'd encourage you to also read through Ps 119 , just eight verses at a time each day. It will neatly divided into a 22 day reading plan. Meditate and pray on those eight verse each day, and when you get to the end of day 22 you can start the plan again either straight away or the next month. It's a great Psalm to mediate upon and reflect on God's Word.

I am not sure what God is doing but I am game. I used to help out in Sunday school and Karios Prison Ministry.

God is doing a new work in your life, continue to embrace it and see where he leads you.

Consider What difference it makes if one thinks Malachi is the last thing presented before Matthew 1 vs. if one thinks Chronicles was the last thing presented before Matthew. (I realize I am skipping a lot of Dueterocanonical writing that many Logos users believe needs to be considered before beginning the 27 books of the New Testament)

I'm not claiming which way is "right", I'm just suggesting that "cover-to-cover" may mean different order.

Disciple II I do study stuff but I have never actually read the whole bible. I study Romans, John, etc, or read whatever a pastor preached on.

I do plan to read the bible every day I just may not read the whole bible after 3 reads. Then again I will see. Carman Licciardello (that his last name) youtube page has all his albums including his last "No Plan B" which has some good songs on it. On his Facebook page they are planning to relaunch his ministry. No idea what they are going to do. The last post I read that says his mission to save souls will continue.

That makes sense but, Not all Jewish people rejects the NT as I have known some that believe in Jesus.
