A blatant solicitation for my favorite book
Just wanted to push one of my favorite books which has appeared in PrePub recently.
I regret that I have to stress not to judge a book by its cover. The cover and title of this book is really rather unimpressive. So this unassuming title is being widely read by many clergy and religious in the English-speaking world and is transforming many lives. I cannot recommend this book highly enough as a practical guide to healing wounds that one may not even be aware one had, which linger and cause misjudgments or reflexes that can make spiritual grown and holiness much more difficult than necessary. Granted, we probably all need counseling, and this book is no substitute for that, but since most people probably won't get counseling, we work with what we have. Those who have had valuable experience counseling/being counseled will appreciate this book all the more. Again, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Also I should probably point out that these Bob Schuchts books aren't appearing on the Verbum store in the Pre-Pub list sorted by most recent...

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

When I clicked, I was immediately distracted by the fact that four out of the first five "Catholic" books were actually by Orthodox theologians--Paul Evdokimov and Olivier Clément (not to mention that the latter's name has lost its accent).

Those are referred to as "Eastern Rite catholic" which the computer treats as "Eastern Rite Catholic" ...[;)]

The trouble here is that "Catholic" books are sometimes defined by publisher and sometimes by author.

I only care whether they are defined accurately.

I am dubious that that is possible ... especially in the current state of the American Church. I'll take solid theology regardless of the label thrown on it.

Let's have a solid theology label! [;)]

It's quite possible to accurately determine whether a book is Catholic as long as by "Catholic" you do not mean "orthodox Catholic" or "faithful Catholic" or something of that sort.
