Hi Brothers and Sisters,

I recently upgraded to Verbum 9.  In the Verbum 360 Verbum 9 training the priest talks about templates.  In the Sermon Starter Guide they have a nice template.  Has anyone used Homily Builder and can point me to any Help articles?  The one provided in Verbum help is very basic.

Thank you and God Bless.

    I am still learning.

I watch sermon builder videos, too. I have a subscription to a training provider that we are not allowed to discuss here. We are allowed to link to this training provider here, though. https://mpseminars.com/

Do You have the Homiletics training? It is for an older version of Verbum, but I found it helpful.

I think I got this as part of a St. Paul Library. Usually the packages that contain a resource are listed in the product description, but sometimes they are not listed. I am not sure what I got in level one and what I got in level two. And what I got in a regular legacy library. The St Paul listings are not accurate, but I just decided to gamble and see what I got. All or most of the Verbum training in included in St. Paul level 2, even though it just lists "360" in the description.

Anything in the Preaching Suites works in Verbum

I have a real hodge-podge of packages as I collected the features and books and training that I needed the most, while still not upgrading above Bronze.

Oh, and ... Welcome to the forum!!!

If my above post is overwhelming, I am sorry. That was just the way that I gradually built up my library on a student budget.

    Hi Kathleen,

Thank you.  Yes, I have all the training modules that Verbum offered.  Like you said they are for earlier versions.  I will explore all the links you have provided.  God Bless you for taking the time to respond in detail.  I will also call Verbum support and see how they can help.  In Verbum 9 Silver, for instance, they have a "Counseling Guide".  When I open that, it is not seeing any of my books on Spiritual Direction.  Then I find that  the "Headword" of the resources should have something that allows the Counseling Guide  to recognize these resources.

    Thank you and God Bless.

Good that you have all the training! I do not have Silver or the counseling guide. I don't NEED those features right NOW to complete the specific tasks that I think the Lord had assigned to me. I am gradually increasing the size of my library from what is on sale and that provides the things that I cannot get from interlibrary loan or some other way.

I hope someone else can help you with the counseling guide. You might want to start another thread devoted to that topic. The counseling guide interests me. I hope some day to be able to own it.

Sorry that your first thread is not getting a lot of attention. Some threads don't get as much attention as others. Lent is fast approaching and people have some extra tasks to complete this week. I hope to see you around on the forums.

That's a good idea to start a new thread for counseling Kathleen.  God Bless you for your ministries.

I am one semester away from getting certified as a Spiritual Director from Divine Mercy University.  Once our practicum started, we needed to have directees.  It breaks my heart of what people go through.  We need more people like you who is interested in others' welfare especially in Spiritula Direction area.  That is the reason I am trying to figure out how to take advantage of the guide provided in Verbum.

    God Bless.

I am a student, too. The pandemic completely upended my life, and right now, my studies are only through unaccredited schools. I am at peace with that and all the other changes and challenges. The Lord takes some of us on a scenic route to our destinations, and I trust His plans, and just seek to bloom exactly where He plants me. I use and train with the resources that I have and trust that He will provide exactly the tools that He wants me to have.

When I am abundantly blessed or severely challenged that stands out to me. I step back and marvel at where that might end.

I have stopped trying to figure out where this all ends. The world is an extra crazy place right now, as it has been in times past. I think it best to be childlike and wait upon Daddy to tell me my next move when I need to know.

My heart broke awhile back when I was the only one consistently present when an old woman was dying. The priest would not come again after giving her last rights. Her blood family was "too busy" to be there. She had told me that her greatest fear was dying alone. I made sure she was not alone, but otherwise, I messed up in so many ways. She suffered more because of my lack of training. I don't ever want to be that unhelpful to a dying person again!

The more crazy the world becomes, the more that laypeople will find themselves the only one available to help in a crisis. I am not earning paperwork that means anything to the people that hold power, but I am learning how to comfort the non-powerful. And sometimes, with some people, my present lack of power and titles is exactly what makes them trust me enough to pray with and for them. I just watch things play out and marvel at it all.

God bless you and your work, too!
