Do you have any visual filters turned on - including any corresponding filter features? Do you have a search open?
Afaik, no and no
Did you actually check? 98% of the time, that is the answer to this problem. Okay, I just made up the 98% figure but they are the most common cause of the problem even after the user has initially said there were none. Think minimized floating window with a search open as a typical example.
I did check. But on your insistence I scoured all devices, one of which had an orphan search window. For some odd reason, that device affected other devices. I may have to reset my desktops.
