Hi.  I am getting a bit frustrated as I have followed the steps given and do not have the option of adding my books.  I do not see the + sign with two books on a shelf.  When I click on learn more, it does not open a QR code.  What do I need to do differently to get this to work?  thanks

This feature is only available in Gold packages and above.

I'm hoping at some point it will be available as a separate feature purchase. There was only one Academic Feature upgrade, and it would have been natural to have that as part of the Academic upgrade, so I was disappointed to discover that it wasn't included.

The Academic Feature Upgrade is the ideal package and price point for me; it comes closest to the sweet spot of "not too many resources I don't want + not too few that I do."

For me the Academic Feature Upgrade would cost $115.88 AUD ($73 USD). To get the print library catalog (a feature I was so excited to see in the launch video) I'd have to spend $294.65 AUD ($186).

Is there a way that our Print Library can be part of a search in the Passage or Exegetical Guide? This would seem to be the most helpful way to use Logos to search one of our print commentaries.

It would be great if one could upload that file and have the several hundreds in my case print books added in one big batch.

Hi, Tony. That thought has definitely occurred to us as well. We're "gathering interest" at this point I'd say.

I came looking for this thread to ask for that very feature!

Yes it would be really helpful to have a reminder there that I own the print book!

We want to keep improving Print Library, and will use our Feedback site to understand better what improvements users would most value. Please feel free to add suggestions there. If you have several ideas, please create a separate suggestion for each idea, as that will help us prioritize.

I already have my print books library scanned into the website Libib. From there, I can export a CSV file with the ISBNs. It would be great if one could upload that file and have the several hundreds in my case print books added in one big batch.

I agree with Tony.  I already have my print library scanned into LibraryThing.   I don't see my self going back through and rescanning hundreds of books again.  If we could import our list of ISBN numbers into Logos, that would be great.

    I would vote for that!

I think this is a bug. This selector doesn't seem to recognize the Print Library books at all.

It is a bug, I'm sorry. It should be fixed in 10.1.

    Thanks, Mark!

What if I have an older book with no bar code to scan?

Or a book for which I no longer have the dust cover with the bar code?

Is there a way to manually add the ISBN #?

On the desktop you can type in the title and add it manually.....assuming its the same edition, page numbers may differ (?)

Has anyone been able to add a print book to a collection? I think whatever is keeping them from being "searchable" is also keeping them from collections (?)

I see......thank you for the work put into this. It's wonderful to tie in the rest of my library. I will be disappointed if I don't see a personalized price to make it all part of my Logos library :)

I find that typing the title of the commentary, the author's name, and the series title produces no results.

Have you tried capitalizing the author's name? I see that it's not in your example. That might make a difference.

I upgrade to 10 on both my Windows desktop and my Android mobile app.

On the desktop, I tried to add a print book I have that I know is in Logos, but there is no option / icon to add the book.

On the mobile app, where the scan option is supposed to appear, there is nothing.

Any suggestions? Thanks! This is such a great feature, and I am eager to use it.

I made a similar mistake. I upgraded to Logos 10 Silver because I liked its library better than Logos 10 Gold. Next time, I won't purchase so impulsively.

This is a great start! I have over 5,000 print books and many are not in the Logos system. Here is my wish list:

    • Let me manually add print books that are not part of the Logos universe and let me tag them.
    • Let me add Dewey Decimal numbers.
    • Let me produce a shelf list based on those numbers.

I am confident that a Logos sales rep would be happy to help you rectify that error.

I love the print library option. May I suggest a manual option for books that are not in the Logos catalogue, perhaps just an ISBN search to include title and author, as this would help me as a user to track all my books In one place.

Right now I will have to have a list of non Logos books in my print library and to periodically check if they have been added to Logos. In other words, whilst helpful it is actually creating more work for me to keep track of what's in and what's out. With a manual option, I would be assured that any time a title is added to Logos my print editions will be added to search without any further action on my part.

The advantage of this to Logos would be that you could actually target me with new publications that you know I have in my print library and the data you collect could further enhance your understanding of the kind of titles your users want to buy.

I've added as a suggestion so that people can vote at  https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/logos-desktop-app/posts/add-print-books-that-are-not-yet-in-logos-catalogue

Yep, exactly. It's a brilliant marketing move, though kind of funny if users aren't made explicitly aware of how Logos will be using the data that users pay good money to upload (!). I'd assume Logos is using that data to target users more specifically (and more frequently?) with ads, offers, etc. They say as much in their Privacy Policy--but are users who upload their print book titles aware of this? Who knows--maybe they want the ads and consider it a beneficial service. Is Faithlife also making the user's print library info available to third party vendors? The Privacy Policy, at least as I read it, doesn't preclude it.

Personally, for how much revenue Faithlife stands to generate from the Print Library Catalog, I'm kind of surprised it's not a "free" feature. Yet more marketing brilliance, I guess....

Some people are buying a Full Feature Upgrade now rather than a lower set or no set at all because of the Print Library feature, so it seems like reasonable enough marketing to me.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this new feature. Please provide your feedback in the comments below.

I'm SUPER disappointed that this feature will not be available to me as I can't afford the expensive packages.

could you PLEASE include this also for smaller packages?

    Shalom

This is a great new feature, but I am having a problem syncing print books between the Android App "ISBN Scanner" and the Logos Desktop App.

If I scan books using the mobile phone App, they all get added to the "Print Library" on my Phone, but do not appear in the Print Library on the Desktop. I have made sure that both the Phone App and the Desktop App are Synced and up to date.

Am I missing something? or is this perhaps a bug?

One thing you can do is put the silver package you want in the cart, then add the full feature upgrade. The price will dynamically adjust so that you don't pay for the lower feature set with the silver package. That's what I'm doing.

I'm in the same position of the person you're responding to, and while I would love to be able to purchase the full feature upgrade, I don't have the financial stability to do so. I would love to even pay just to get this new feature on its own, as I have a lot of books and commentaries I love but find it difficult to navigate when doing a topic study.

Okay, I just went and got the full feature upgrade largely because of this feature. I added a book I had on my desk without difficulty, and I successfully searched for a quote I knew was in it. All well and good. However, the results do not show me the page number for the quote. I know I can't read the book because I don't own it in Logos, but it seems to me if page numbers aren't returned, this feature will have very limited utility.

    Am I missing something?

ETA: Yes, I am missing something--the page number is hidden because my search window is too small and it's getting cut off:

Obviously I can enlarge the window to see it all. What would be easier, though, is to hid the Search Template panel. How do I do that?

Some books give the page number and some don't. The book you added probably doesn't have page numbers in the Logos edition, so search can't give you a page number that doesn't exist in the Logos edition. It might be an ebook.
