Flickering Backgrounds

Hi all,

We have been having an issue ever since we got a new computer to run Proclaim on. When videos and moving backgrounds are started, they will sometimes glitch, a video of the problem is linked below. Our computer is a Dell XPS tower with an Intel Core I5, 16GB or RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1660 SUPER. It is running Windows 10 Pro.

I am having the exact same problem. Commented on a much older post, but no response. Seems to go back to April 2022 at least with two other people having the same problem. It appears that this is potentially a problem with NVIDIA graphics cards. My laptop has a built in AMD Radeon as well as an NVIDIA. When I switch to the built in AMD graphics all videos seem to run without an issue. However, when the NVIDIA card (RTX 3080) switches on, I get glitching videos.

Have spent a couple more hours troubleshooting. If you play the slides on the same monitor that you are running Proclaim on, then I do not have any glitches. For example I disconnected my external monitor and went OnAir using only my laptop screen. No glitching whatsoever. I reconnected my external monitor and ran Proclaim on my laptop screen with the output on my external monitor and back to glitching. As an experiment, I then made my external my main monitor, ran Proclaim on it, with the OnAir output also on the same monitor. No glitching.

So, at least in my case the problem seems to be outputting the slides to a different monitor. Which is the only way that you can effectively run it.

So, in summary, running the OnAir output to the same screen as Proclaim is running on eliminated the glitching.

Alright, based on your video this looks like the sequence of events:

:01 Transition completes. Proclaim shows video's first frame
:08 Proclaim believes the video has 'Loaded', video player renders black frame
:09 dark/pixely video starts to play
:11 Correctly rendered video plays

At 1 second, you have transitioned to the item. Proclaim shows the first frame, as even when operating correctly, the video may take some milliseconds to load and the first frame hides that. Then instead of that lasting for milliseconds, it lasts 7 seconds.

Then it appears the video told us it 'loaded' in which case we told it to play. (However it showed a black frame... We have reported this to Microsoft, as it seems like a bug in their code)

Then around 9 seconds in we see it actually render, but with potentially the gamma all messed up as its very dark... then finally at 11 seconds it loads correctly.

Definitely a problem... we are continuing to investigate

Thanks Jordan. Just another comment that might help you in troubleshooting. The problems with the glitching video that I have encountered only happened on videos that were less than a minute long or that were looping videos. For example, a welcome video that was 30 seconds long that looped. We use videos for worship; these being 4 minutes to 7 minutes long. We never had any glitching on those videos. They played totally fine.

I have swapped out nvidia gpu for an amd gpu and still see the issue pop up when I least expect it to....

See the video I uploaded. I can force this to happen by just being in the edit or preview screen and playing the video and moving it to the second monitor. Kinda crazy. I LOATHE pro presenter and do not want to switch to something else because I love the ability to work from home and sync to church.

Are we ever going to get a definitive answer on why this stuff happens?
