I don't mind the possibility of lost data - I know that's a risk I take in using the beta. I just get a bit queasy when they seem to not quite know what they were releasing. Admitted, my view is jaundiced by a career in the computer end of payroll. Somehow, people just aren't very forgiving when they paycheck comes out wring.

Yes I agree for Beta it should be "At your own risk" which is clearly stated,

Jim, for Gold releases, yes I couldnt agree more

I have a program that exports a User Notes File (but in theory could be tweaked to do any user doc).

I currently have the reimporting bit to code, but with working 55hrs and 6 day weeks... it is progressing a lot slower than I would like.. and it is still my hope that Logos will implement something before I get it completed.. when (and it may not be for a couple of months) it is completed and deffinitely not before 4.1 goes gold.. if there is no mechanism in L4 I will be releasing  to the community..

Never Deprive Anyone of Hope.. It Might Be ALL They Have

I know it is clearly stated, but this was my concern:

Todd: "Unfortunately this is intentional. New sentence diagram features have caused the storage format to change."

If this particular release had indicted you would loose the use of your SD's I would not have upgraded. Hence, it was basically Logos's fault this time not mine that my data was lost. As stated I fortunately have not updated my other machine to beta 7 yet- its still at 6 and can still view the Sd's- at present I'm ok.

But in the future with a change this radical even for a beta an additional or more advertised warning like "READ BEFORE UPDATING LOSS OF DATA MAY OCCUR."

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. It is NOT our intention to "break" or abandon earlier user data during a beta process. This happens all the time as part of developing the tool, but should happen (except in dire circumstances, which I don't think we've ever seen) once a beta goes out in the world.

We have all gotten back on the same page about this, and we're working to restore access to earlier versions of your diagrams. We'll keep you posted.

Thank you for your response Bob- I will be happy to be able to convert my Beta 6 SD's to a stable release version when available.

Once again I understand the dangers of doing beta- but I was not aware with this relaease there was the potential to lose them all.

I have found a backup on Norton from 8/8/2010 that may contain my L3 files, I am not a wizard with this, so I am going to try and reinstall L3 from the backup.

    Whyndell,

At least just the My Documents/Libronix DLS/*>. files.

    That's all you need.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I can't begin to appreciate the loss you are feeling at the moment but do appreciate you have put a lot of work into these diagrams over the years.  I pray that you will be able to recover them whether it be through a backup or Logos is able to re-use these older format diagrams.

This should be fixed in today's beta. Please let us know if any of your diagrams are not working.

I tested this fix in diagrams created with diagrams that were created in L4 and with ones imported from L3. All work fine now.

    Thanks Logos[Y]

The diagrams I had created in L4 appear to be working, except for the two I opened in B7 to test the disappearing bug. Oh well, I did not like the one and I need practice on the other.

I must confess that I had difficulty putting James 1:2 into practice here, but I will still be a betaholic at the end of the day. [8-|]
