Greek with English alongside it...

Hey,

I'd like to setup Logos. so I have the greek in one panel, and the English in the other.

Ideally I'd like the ability to hover over a greek work and then have the English bible highlight the same word so I know what it means.

Or even greek with the English word underneath...

How would you recommend I set this up?

I don't know Greek but I think this would help me begin to understand it better.

Many thanks,

Matt

Use the Bible and Commentary layout from Layouts > QuickStart Layouts.

Replace the Commentary with a Greek bible and link it to the English bible (link set A).  Ensure that Corresponding Words and Hover are chosen in the Visual Filters menu of the English bible. Also check Same Lemma.

Now hover over a Greek word to see its meaning! Several words with the same lemma will be highlighted, so expect a plethora if you hover a common word like "the". so it might be better to check only Same Word in the VF menu.

    Shalom!

Logos is a very versatile piece of software so there are multiple ways in which you can do this. I will give you some links to training videos:

    1. First of all I would open an English Bible that has a reverse interlinear: https://faithlifetv.com/media/306941

    2. Then I would open a Greek New Testament in another panel and link the two panels together: https://faithlifetv.com/media/1050038

    3. You might also want to open the information panel and/or a Greek lexicon. You can save all open panels as a layout (see previous video).

Ideally I'd like the ability to hover over a greek work and then have the English bible highlight the same word so I know what it means.

    4. Make sure you have the "corresponding words" visual filter selected: https://faithlifetv.com/media/1055066

One option is MultiView || for displaying Greek & English side by side in one tab: (single click on a Greek word had corresponding words: lemma & root highlighted in Greek & English)

Mouse hover over Χαίρετε has information tool pop-up near tab bottom that shows Greek word with parsing (spelling identification) plus Louw-Nida number & English Gloss.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

I can not get mine to do this, they work separately, but not together.

My apologies for not understanding. Screenshot should help illustrate "not together"

    Free edition includes MutliView:

Screen shot shows some visual filter highlighting so corresponding words in Greek & English are highlighted.

Thanks, I got it working but I don't care for it as it doesn't just follow the single word in both at the same time. I'll stick with other guys for that, because they do it well & that's one of the advantages of having both. I have slightly more than the free edition, I Logos 10 full features set and almost 4,000 resources & Lord willing I'll continue to add.
