Verse Labels in Songs

Is there a way anyone has found to separately label verses on the displayed slides in proclaim? i don’t want to just add “verse 1” a few lines below the lyrics in the lyric box. I want a different font or size for the verses and text boxes don’t behaving the same in songs. Thanks!

I am unsure of the question you are asking.

Font sizes in songs are consistent throughout the song and are at a maximum size to fit the lines on the screen. That is to make the font larger one has to manually split the lines.

One can use any label for a verse providing the label is contained between { and }

Thanks for the reply. I realize I wasn’t as clear as I could‘ve been. They want the label “Verse 1…Verse 2” etc displayed on the bottom of the slides for everyone to see.

Can't think of an easy way Matthew. It is a kind of perverse request. It clutters up the screen with exteraneous verbiage. Usually the only cue required is one to denote the end of the last verse. That can be accomplished by adding a text box to the last frame.

I assume a technical term. But as a music team victim (smiling), they absolutely like to skip verses, mix and match, etc. Getting a visual heads-up is not (technically) perverse.

"Second verse ... same as the first!"

Added: the preacher is not far behind, bouncing back and forth through the Bible, as the heat rises from swishing congregational Bibles going back and forth. Faster! Faster!

the music director wanted a visual cue for everyone indicating which verse was being sung currently.

Ok Matthew the musical director wants what he wants. :-(

You might like to remember that cmd+shift+5 is your friend when you need to post screen shots.

I don't think that there is a simple way of meeting the musical directors request other than appending a number as the last line of each verse.

(I still fail to understand how it helps anyone to know the number of the verse if they are singing from the screen.)

Sometimes verses are changed or added, and she wants to know what verse she’s on when playing the organ.

ideally there would be a custom text box parameter that populates with the section header (Chorus, verse 1, etc).

couldn‘t find anything in the smart media editor so was just hoping this had come up for someone before.

Obviously, I won't convince you, I'm guessing from different hymnal/worship traditions. We have the hymns largely memorized, so you only need to know which verse (a glance). And having played organ, ditto. A quick glance , and try to negotiate with the congregation (speed).

I don't use it myself, so I may be 'speaking' out of turn but I thought that this information is available on the confidence screen - which is what musicians and church leaders should be using.

The display screens should be configured for maximum efficiency of folk who are reading the stuff for singing rather than for planning.

Not everyone uses the screen as default. At my church, it's common during the communion distribution hymn for people to get back to their seat, look at the screen to see what verse we're on, then sing from the hymnal.

I too would like to see a "verse" entry field, just like we have a "hymnal number" field.
