RESOURCE BUG?: ESV Reverse Interlinear - Jude 5 'Jesus', Or...

I recall that 'Jesus' / 'the LORD' was some level of an issue in Jude 5. I don't have my older print ESV available, but I found an old blog post by Dr. Mounce indicating that the ESV translators (he was one of them, I think) used 'Jesus' even when the NA27 had 'the LORD'. I also realize that the Greek text used in Logos for the reverse interlinears for modern translations is of a hybrid nature, but will generally agree with NA28, which has 'Jesus'. And the RI does have 'Jesus'.

The issue is that the Information Tool and the RI report that the ESV is 'not translated', when it really is. My extreme non-technically founded guess is that that was true when the RIs were more or less aligned with NA27, but should not longer be considered 'not translated'. See ESV inline RI below:

So, should the 'not translated', which (I guess) applied to the ESV choice when the NA27 was the standard, stay as is and we should just know that when looking at the Info Tool, or should it have been changed when NA28 was adopted? In fact, the current state prevents display of the 'Translation' section of the Info Tool when examining that word in the ESV.

The RI is based on the SBLGNT (like most modern translations) which has Ἰησοῦς. But that has nothing to do with the translation, which may use "Jesus" or "Lord" based on other considerations. But the translated word should still be aligned with Ἰησοῦς for consistency. ESV does not do this, as well as NIV 2011, NRSV, ASV, REB.

Thanks for the report. I've passed this along to our data team.

This issue is still outstanding. I don't really have an informed expectation on timing. I assume a critical mass of similar errors needs to coincide with staff availability.

Correct. It's on our backlog to fix but we haven't gotten to it yet. I don't have an estimate to when the update will be pushed out.
