I Pad Issues

To Whom It May Concern

My name is Dr. Dustin Burlet

I am an instructor at Millar College of the Bible (Winnipeg, Canada)

https://www.millarcollege.ca/our-team

I also serve on the executive council for the Canadian American Theological Association

https://cata-catr.com/executive-officers/current-cata-executive/

I am writing to discuss some user interface issues that my colleagues and I have with Logos

One issue we have is that in the I pad OS version when they copy and paste the citation is NOT transferred but it is transferred, strangely enough in the web app - this causes no small amount of grief

Another issue is the inability to prioritize the library in the web app or the I pad IOS app. It can (it seems) only be done in the desktop version

These are "big" deals to my peers and I

Has anyone else found these to be particularly troublesome?

How do you resolve these issues in an effective way?

The following was Logo's  (professional and polite but altogether generally unhelpful) response

"We have an ongoing commitment to improve our mobile app and make it more feature-rich. This is something we take very seriously. However, it is an ongoing process. I am not able to give an estimate of how soon automatic citations and prioritization might be available in our mobile app.

We are also continuing to add functionality to our web app. This means that some features may become available on our web app that are not yet available in mobile.

I have shared your concerns with our team. You have made it clear how important these missing features are to you. You might want to consider also making a post in our user forum. This gives the wider community a chance to express their views about this."

As you discovered, these are not features of the mobile app.

I can appreciate your desire to have these features, but I don't anticipate Logos adding them anytime soon.

The mobile app is not intended to replace the desktop app (i.e. provide all the same features). The web app is headed that direction.

    Yes!

Regarding copy/pasting from a resource into a note, this is one big thing I would like to see changed!

For anyone who might not understand, here's why it would be so useful to me. Say I am reading a book and I find some great quote or piece of information that ties to a specific Bible verse. I could just highlight it in the resource, but then I'm most likely going to forget about it. Therefore, if I want to be reminded of that quote whenever I read a particular Bible verse, I will create a note tied to a Bible verse and then copy/paste the quote. In Desktop, this works splendidly. Besides the citation, there is a hyperlink so in the future I can just click on the hyperlink and be taken to the exact quote in the resource. However, in Mobile I have add the source information manually, and in the future when I am reading the note, if I ever want to go back to he source, I have to copy/paste the quote and search for it in that resource. It's a lot more work, especially when one of the advantages of Logos is quickly linking and clicking between resources!

Unlike JT, I am more optimistic that this could eventually come to Mobile. Why? I know Mobile can already handle Logos links. I assume Mobile can generate Logos links (or that it wouldn't be difficult). Therefore, all they have to do is change the text string that's pasted when copy/pasting within Logos, which seems not very difficult.

As an aside, as a Pastor I have a similar issue with Sermon Builder. Copy/Pasting from a resource into a Sermon Document generates a quote with a hyperlink in Desktop, but none in Mobile.

Regarding the second issue, I also agree. I do most of my reading on Mobile (iPad), and so it's while I'm reading that I want to rank (prioritize) and rate (with star-rating) books, especially the latter. For me the ability to star would be more important and also simpler to implement, because I don't mind prioritizing on the computer.

I have a backlog of suggestions I need to post to https://feedback.logos.com/, but eventually I hope to get to this one. However, if you get to it first, I would encourage you to make a suggestion there and post it so we can upvote it!

I would be glad to be wrong. [:)]
