Bible fonts
Hello,
I am new to Verbum/LOGOS and consequently new to the forum. I am using Verbum version 28.0.34 on my HP desktop. As an individual being a retiree (non-clerical, no official Church affiliation), vision at this stage is changing so reading the Bible in Verbum is difficult when using the dark background, as the font color the developers used might be artistic but far from practical. Using the lighter background results in too much glare for me. It is bothersome that there is no provision to change the font color.
Prior to this post, I viewed the suggestions offered in the forums about changing resolution and/or contrast on my monitor, but I do find that a bit ludicrous. It is a function of the developer to enhance and provide ease-of-use for the user, thus the burden should not be placed on the user. Should this problem exist due to my using the free version, I apologize but on a fixed income, the prices are far out of my range. Again, for any free application that I use, inclusive of dark backgrounds, the font color is a consistent option.
This is very disappointing since I enjoy the rest of the application, but having to strain to read the Bible results in being a deal breaker. I am compelled to go elsewhere.
This is not meant for the community (hence no reply is necessary), but hopefully, the LOGOS team reads the forum.
Blessings to all.

Welcome. Unfortunately, the developer cannot provide ease-of-use for ALL users; they can only provide for most users. For example, I cannot read any screen in dark mode. It simply does not compute without excessive effort. And I have a color blindness that makes yellow less discernable - my division between green and blue is not yours (or my Mother's). And recently, I suddenly needed more distinction in the shading of selected/not selected lines in the library. And I test within the normal range in eye testing. Multiply by the number of people like me who are within the range of normal and still manage to have special requirements and you can see that programmers have a problem without a solution other than that offered since the days of cathode-ray tubes on - the user makes adjustments on their machine based on their eyes and the lighting of that location.
I am sorry that this has been a deal breaker for you. I trust you tried the various background options on the light background. The glare is not an issue for me with the background I use, but I know there are others who, like you, find it difficult. Best of luck finding an option that works for you.

Hi Joe,
As a former software developer, I totally agree with you that software developers should keep in mind making their software as accessible as possible to people with low vision. Making the font color customizable seems like it would solve a lot of people's problems.
You are also not the first who has complained of readability issues in Dark Mode. Are you aware of the Feedback boards? This is where users can suggest new features or changes to existing features, and other users can vote for the ones they want most. Here are some existing suggestions which cover this topic somewhat. If none of those looks like it would exactly meet your needs, feel free to add a new one, and post a link here to encourage other users to vote for it.

There might be others. Some of these should probably be merged together, but that's a task only Logos can decide on and do.

Unfortunately, the forums are mostly for peer-to-peer (user-to-user) support. There are some Logos team members who visit the forums pretty regularly, but I wouldn't expect that posts here will necessarily be taken as requests for changes to the software and acted upon. As I mentioned above, your best bet for effecting change is to use the Feedback boards and hope to get a groundswell of user support for your idea. The Logos developers have way too much on their potential to-do list, so they have to prioritize based on what will give them the most impact (most users made happy, or best change to increase sales) for their time.

I had never tried changing the font color in Logos, so I was suprised to hear people say it could not be changed. So I tried to change it on mine [H]
Logos gives you the option to use the "System" Theme. This theme functionality is built into Windows. As long as you have "Application Theme" set to "System", you have total control over the colors and contrast of just about everything.
On Windows 10 I was able to change my font color to Blue by going to Settings/Themes. (Just hit the windows key and type in "high contrast" or "
Themes").Turning on High Contrast mode lets you customize everything.
