Kudos to Verbum - inexpensive RCIA product - does your denomination need something similar

RCIA | Verbum

I don't know when this was released but this is EXACTLY how I think Verbum should be marketed to the laity. Kudos to the Verbum staff that put it together ... even if the storefront page is a bit wonky and has no link to the "and more" to see the total package.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I wasn’t aware of this either. It looks like a good idea.

I wonder if it might benefit from some customization options. For example, in our parish, the NABRE and the US Lectionary would probably better suited. I’m sure other parishes might have other specific needs.

    Bravo!

Except that the USCCB has renamed "RCIA" to "OCIA" since it involves more than one rite (it's now an "order" of rites of initiation), so the product is technically misnamed. Though most people will still call it RCIA, given habit dies hard.

I'm involved in OCIA as a parish ministry assignment this year and I wish that the contents were a little more explicit. I find it unhelpful that they've included the old public domain commentary on Holy Scripture that they've sold for the past fifteen years... this would not be a selling point to any competent catechist. Nor Lake's apostolic fathers... but I understand, they have to keep their royalty costs down to be able to sell it at an affordable price. And I'm shocked they don't mention the Catholic Daily Readings "book"... this ought to be the #3 priority thing for catechists after the Catechism and Scripture. Unthinkable that it wouldn't be in this collection... it would be the biggest reason a new user would keep coming back and using the app over and over again.
