I am finally taking Greek I. I am ordering some resources for my Logos library. I would appreciate any recommendations from you Greek and Logos experts Wink Also, I have not ordered many resources from Logos to build up my digital library. Are there discounts when you order over a certain dollar amount?

Scott, congratulations. Please tell us more about what you already have in your Library, what you base package is, and so on so we can be of more help.

Not exactly. However you should probably talk to someone in sales once you know what you want and ask them for the best price they can give you.

If you are taking Greek from an institution that has the opportunity for Logos Academic pricing, that will be the lowest cost route for you.

If you do not yet have one of the Scholar's libraries, that would probably be you best upgrade route. For Greek 1 a Greek NT, a basic Greek lexicon, and your Reverse Interlinears as well as some flash cards will probably be all you need.

I'm not sure what Logos Library (Scholars, etc) that you are using. [EDIT: Sorry I didn't notice that you said you have Scholars.] You might consider looking at the library upgrade options just to see if what you want to add is included. These upgrades (assuming what you want is included) are a far better value than buying individual titles. I don't know of any other discounts for dollar amounts although if you are a student you may be eligible for some good discounts. [EDIT: Logos Customer Service is really helpful in these matters. Someonelse here may even have a recommendation of a specific person to email or speak with.]

I would suggest that you stay away from the Morphologically tagged texts to begin with. If you get in the habit of having Logos parse and decline everything for you then you won't actually learn Greek very well.

As far as resources eventually you will want to get BDAG (the Logos edition is waaaaaaaay easier to use than the print) but you probably won't need that for your first year (of course your instructor might indicate otherwise... follow his suggestions).

I have the Scholar's Library version of Logos 4.

As Kevin has said, at most you might want to get BDAG, but at this point it isn't necessary since in Greek 1 you'll probably be learning all the vocabulary you need. I agree that using a tagged text in Logos is not the way to go.Logos did produce a copy of the NA27 without morphology which would be good to get if you don't have it. Unfortunately I don't think Logos sells it any more, so that may not be an option.

Overall my advise is to go slow on acquisitions. Learn the language, then worry about adding tools when you have a better sense of what will help you.
