In L3 I made a lot of use of the music/hymn section of the Passage Guide.

So far the beta L4 version does not really appear to work.

Is this a "future" enhancement that will eventually apper?

I really, really, really etc appreciate L3's version.

Thanks

Steve

    Hi Stephen,

The Logos Hymnal is now working correctly in Beta 5, so clicking on a musical note next to a hymn opens the audio player on the command bar (right side by Layouts) and plays the hymn. To have it handy, just drag the resource icon from Library (or the panel tab, if it's open) to the shortcut bar.

Sorry, Melissa, but I should have tried to be more clear.

I'm not referring to simply playing hymns from the hymnbook (although I'm glad that it should now "play" music again.)

I'm asking about the section in the passage guide entitled "Music" which in L3 "picked" or produced a list of specific hymn titles related to the Bible Passage being studied. Some of these probably could then be clicked on to also play music, but I used it as a "suggested" guide to hymn selection.

I have not as of yet downloaded Beta 5 but when I tried in an earlier beta the "music/hymn" section of the Passage Guide did not seem to be operating?

I believe these are kind of like topics and L4 still is not up to speed on topic searching (unless that's changed in B5).

But I'm also wondering whether you are referring to a customized collection in your passage guide. I had one on L3 called "Worship" that included most of what Logos offers by way of hymnals (including the Steve Green Midi Hymnal). You may want to build a collection of hymnals and include that in your PG.

Another somewhat valuable resource is the Hymns and Scriptures Selection Guide by Donald E.Spencer. You may want to put that in your hymnal collection too, since it directly references Scriptures.

Rich, in L3 when you select Passage Guide and look in "Properties" there is one entitled "Music" which can be "checked" or chosen etc. This is what i'm referring to.

But I will also do as you have suggested in terms of creating my own custom "music" collection. It will probably help. I do have Spencer's resource. But I don't as of yet have the Steve Green resource but have often wondered about buying it.

    thanks

Steve ~ Thank you for clarifying (although I should have addressed correct issue from the get-go). I can confirm that the Music section is included in Passage Guide, but is not generating results. I've reported it.  ~ Thanks, Melissa

Update:  The Music section in Passage Guide will provide results from specially tagged media resources, which are still in the works. The older hymnals will not be included in this section.
