How the Logos/Verbum catalog frustrates me

So, I'm opening resources to verify my answer to someone on the forum ... and I reach the point where I need to access The New Testament: A Historical Introduction to the Early Christian Writings by Bart D. Ehrman and Hugo Méndez ... which reminded me that Logos seems to have no strategy for providing the resources users need -- some academic works are foundational like the patristic Migne sets that have gone nowhere; some popular works are needed so that we can formulate reasonable (not knee-jerk) responses; some works are needed simply to present alternative views ... but I would certainly like to see a strategy that was more responsive to the specific titles requested by users.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

And long those lines.... I've requested more books by Church of Christ writers... which there are not many of in Logos supply of books. But some, like me, would like to buy more relevant books for our/my libraries.

Truth For Today Commentaries by David Roper and Eddie Cloer for example.

I don't mind getting books etc. for all, but would like one time to get some for each. [8-|]

Agree, there's a bit of mysterious winds in play at Bellingham High (reading Carol Newsom's 'Spirit Within Me' ... another missing technical volume).

And this AM I wanted to understand what happened between Old Latin, Jerome, the Clementine embroglio, and the latest Vulgate. Unfortunately, my 'powerful' app could barely surface the latter two, and I'm guessing it's FL policy? Who knows.

As much as we now know what they don't want (violence, erotica and something else ... sounds like the OT), we don't really know what they DO want.

Agreed MJ. Thanks for standing up to the cloud of rising scholarship.

xnman, you might be interested to know that the Gospel Broadcasting Network Commentaries are in production. These are Church of Christ resources. The first two volumes, Genesis and Exodus, are available for pre-order and should be released in March. The remaining volumes in the series should be released over the next few months.

All of Winton's volumes can be reviewed.

There is a lot of books needed for critical scholarship not found in Logos. To be comprehensive means to be critical and widespread.
