Used 82% AI credits after one Sermon Prep
Today on the 8th of the month I received the message that I used 82% of my AI credits. But I only used the (standard) Passage study Layout for one Biblepassage for my sermon prep.
I did not do anything else like other times I used the Passage study Layout in Logos. so: opening a couple of commentaries and read them, open 5 bibles. Use the exegetical guide, opened TWOT a couple of times, used Logos Sense Lexicon for some words. Did some search to Logos Sense words, searched some other things in the factbook.
This has taken several hours (8-12 probably), although the Passage Study Layout has maybe been open for more hours (I left it on during dinner, without using it).
I'm using the Dutch version.
(In my mobile app I'm reading a novel at night. Sometimes I use the function of Google Tranlate in the app to translate a English word to Dutch.)
For me this is a normal sermon prep like I always do. I'm not a pastor who has to make more sermons a month, so if after one sermon I already have used 82% percent of the AI credits, does a normal pastor have enough AI credits for all his sermons?
What happens when my AI credits are gone? can I still Use Logos?
Can tech guys from Logos maybe see what is using all my AI credits? I'm really not a high volume user...
Do more people have had this message (also as early as 8 days in the month)?

It seems that a pastor who is using Logos for several sermons a month doesn't have enough AI credits if with one sermon I already have used 82%.
AI credits are shared with translation credits. Have you been using the translation tool a lot?

Yes, but you won't be able to use any features that require credits. There's more information here: https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/23563051328269-AI-Credits
Also, the number of credits resets on your billing date, which might not be the first of the month.

Hi Mark Barnes, s related question regarding the AI credits...what happens if we do not use all of our credits for this month, do they roll ever into the next month or do they start all over again when they are refreshed?

Hallo Mark Barnes, thanks for your reply.
Do you mean the translation tool in the android app or another translation feature in Logos Software on my laptop (that I'm nog aware of)
In the case of the android app: no, I have not used it a lot. when reading a novel and a study book, i sometimes have to use it. but maybe 10 times in the last week or so.And if this is the problem, how do i shut it down? because this could be a potential threat to my use of Logos, because this was only 8 days in, and only working on one sermon thru the Passage study guide and reading (and highliting) in my android app on two devices.

In that case there should be a tracker displaying your progress for the month so that one may adjust one's usage accordingly.Mark Barnes (Logos) said:AI credits are shared with translation credits.

Not meaning to sound like a "rookie" Logos user and perhaps I know it under another name or tool....pleasse explain the Translation tool...as I said, I may know it under a different name.

The translation tool is a right sidebar in a resource panel. IIRC it is available on bronze and above.

Hallo Mark Barnes, how do I get such a tracker? because I'm very curious how I became such a high volume user overnight

I'm not using this tool in Logos Software on my laptop. And with not using it and already up to 82% of my AI credits, I'm afraid to use it!
But I got some new info from my android app: I just saw that when you select a word, it automatically gives a translation (by DeepL) in the menu that pops up (that I use a lot to highlite). Also I just saw that here it was saying that I used 82% percent. could it be that by highliting books I am also using AI credits because it automatically translates it in the background? (without me actually always using this feature?)
Maybe i'lll opt aut of the 'Show translation card' in the android app when this problem keeps popping up.
But still: reading every day (avarage 30 min) in my android app and using Logos on my laptop for 10-20 hours a month, does that qualify as a high volume user of AI credit? Wouldn't a full time pastor use more time?

They don't roll over.
The credit limit is very generous. We think most users will never get anywhere near it. I don't think any of our beta testers did.

If you're reading books on your mobile device that are not in the language of your app, and you select a lot of text in them, and you have translation cards turned on, then that could be the culprit.
Next time you see a translation card in your mobile app, click on the three dots at the top right of the card. Then click Translation Settings. You'll be then be able to turn off the cards and stop it happening.

Thanks! it makes sense that this could be the reason because I have read a lot more on my android devices this couple of weeks.
But then I would suggest that Logos gives more AI credits to foreigners who do not have English as their first language. If this AI function uses a lot of AI credits, than people who benefit from this AI feature may not be able to use it as much as they need.
Or Logos can increase the AI credits for everybody, knowing that only foreigners are actually using them. Again: if the translation tool is the main reason for using AI credits.

Thank you Mark.

Hi all,
I'm glad I now read that the AI credits also count for translating (I just started AI subscription)
I am Dutch and when I started with Logos I used up my credits within 12 days.
I prefer the books and such I read to have them translated
I think Logos should give much more credit to foreigners.
You really get through it quite quickly when you read pieces and I advise you not to insist that it is generous
because if you use the translation function you get through it quite quickly
I speak from experience.
Although it is a more expensive solution, I have taken out a subscription to deepl
7.99 euros per month
By using keyboard shortcuts you can easily translate books and the text is very clear
But actually, for the 10 euros that I now pay for AI, It should also yield more for translating,
it is not fair in my opinion that the AI credits also depends on the translation credits.
I mean it costs you almost an extra 10 euros per month but you don't get more credits!
I would like to request Logos to adjust and increase this, especially for those who use the
translation function more because they come from abroad.
Kind regards.0 -
Is there a way to view what my AI credits are? Like how much I have used this month?

How would Logos define a "foreigner" or someone coming from "abroad"?
If, as a 'foreigner' to Latin, I suddenly get the desire to read all the Latin books in my library (who knows, an insane idea like this may enter my head one day), do I then become eligible for more translation credits from Logos?

Not to my knowledge. But I would like a way to know, at any given time, the status of my AI credits. Or Logos should consider lowering the notification threshold; I think 80% is too far gone. This is especially important as we anticipate the addition of more AI features.

It sounds like Logos needs to make it clearer what the user's credits are, how much you burn using feature X and (like many of the AI art programs) the ability to acquire extra credits for a fee.
(I don't like the idea of the last one, but it may be necessary).

I believe that there should be more credits at all,
but I find it strange to get the AI credits from the same stock as the translation credits.
You pay extra for it and it should be separate from the translation credits
Foreigners in particular could suffer from a lack of credits,
unless there are English speakers who would like to read all Latin books in English,
then I think it's fine that they have just as much [:P]
The point is that an English speaker very likely does not need as many credits as a foreigner who is less good at English.
In addition, I still believe that this is not just a commercial company,
but that we are brothers and sisters who can listen to each other and sincerely look for a solution.

I unsubscribed from the Logos mailing lists (I think I was getting too many emails) and it seems I am out of date on this new AI feature. I don't have it. Is it only for insiders? How do I test it?

Could someone please explain AI credits to this ole man? Who assigns AI (Artificial Intelligence) credits? I can use all the intelligence that I can get.
Wait, I think I understand. Is this part of the new subscription package that offers additional AI?

Hi Mark,
May I echo the requests for a way to monitor our use of AI/translation credits. I use Logos extensively, and the Summarization Sidebar is a great time saver. But, without knowing how my monthly usage is going, I will self-limit my use of it to avoid running out, potentially missing out unnecessarily on the time saving I could get from the feature.
Maybe you could make the notification icon permanent, or give us a program setting to do so?
Thanks, Steve

I too would vote for a tracker to know how much I would be using.

In the Settings Menu, there is an entry for Translation Settings. Do you have that set to enable showing translation cards?
