indexer

Does anyone has also a problem with the indexer? Mine seems to be in a continuous loop. Each time I open Logos it starts to index the whole library again, which in my case takes hours, Is there a solution to this?

I can tell that my PC has been indexing upon each opening of Logos and it is taking a lot more time than before. Usually it took 25-50 minutes. Now it is taking 2 hours. I am not sure if this is the same issue.

It may not be completing, in which case logs would help identify the problem. It may be a simple as running out of space. How much space is available on your disk?

It's taking right now already 8 hours and is only up to 20%, and I only had 64 books added today. but it looks like it is again indexing the whole library.

I have it on my external drive and that has 2T space,

External drives are not recommended; don't know enough to know how slow that might be. The other possibility is a corrupted file which we'd need logs to identify.

I did find out that there were 2 indexer corrupt logs as well as an indexer crash. So I uninstalled Logos, but then found that I couldn't delete the files on the external drive, after some of the files were deleted I got a message thanks to a corrupted file the delete stopped, Got well an error message. I did scan the disk and they couldn't scan it either because it gave a message of invalid path. I'm afraid that when I reinstall Logos I will be stuck with the same problem. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

On the desktop, reinstalling rarely corrects problems; deleting the correct indexes does as it forces Logos to rebuild the index. We need logs to tell you precisely what needs deleted. Or you can delete the entire file The full path to your library index files is `/Users/{your username}/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/{some random folder name}/Library Index`.and it will rebuild. If you did a complete uninstall, this should already have been done.

This is usually the most effective way, attempting the Rebuild Index command from within Logos may work as well and it auto clears the Index folders/files and rebuilds.

I found out that the problem is not with Logos, but with Windows, I got the error code; 8x80070670 which means a windows file is corrupted. Now I have to sort out with windows how to correct this.

Does the external drive have a file system called NTFS. You can find this by right-clicking the drive in File Explorer and looking at Properties.

Formatted as NTFS?

As I understand it she did and I got rid of all corrupted files. My external drive is clean now. I'm afraid when I install Logos again on that drive the same problem will pop up. When I had it on the hard disk the indexer behaved the same way, but also couldn't complete the task for lack of disk space. Hence I got a 2T external drive attached to my laptop and installed Logos there. Any ideas on how to avoid the same problem of getting corrupted files?

Check that it is NTFS by right-clicking the drive in File Explorer and selecting Properties:-
Being NTFS will ensure you do not have problems with Logos.
