Does the pre-pub status with a release date make sense?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

This is the publisher's release date for the product.

Pre-pubs have had release dates as long as I can remember, even when they are books that were already released by the publisher and Logos has waited to get enough interest before doing the work to convert them to Logos editions. They can predict approximately when they'll be done and release them. There was much angst in the forums over these ship dates changing: people had viewed them as promises, but they were really just  best-guess estimates, and schedule slips inevitably happened occasionally.
