Dragging text and shapes around and it always wants to snap to a grid and be in line with other objects. Is there a free floating option?

I would be interested in this as well. A free floating option would be helpful!
I ended up finding it. Click anywhere on the document itself (not a text box or shape etc.) to get the following menu on the right side. Uncheck the Guides option (marked in red below).
