Insight into "Insights"

I had some English and Greek Bibles open in a workspace, linked in "Link Set A." My study led me to looking at a passage in Daniel. I opened up BHS, and then from the "Insights" tab clicked on a commentary. I then noticed that it had automatically linked BHS and the commentary together in "Link Set B." I'm not sure if this is something new or not; I suspect it's related to the new "Insights" feature. This is a small but extremely useful feature. Way to go, Logos!

It is. A link set is created for both books if necessary, avoiding any existing link sets  e.g. I already have link set B. Use Insights on one bible and link set A is created. Repeat that on another bible and link set C is created.

Good heavens.  Non-subscription is looking better and better by the minute. I use 5 links and the 6th cleared for temp-use.  I hate to see what happens then.

I just wonder how insights work…I have ESV open, with a plethora of top level comentaries in my lib, and when I toggle inisghts, I get a FSB recommended portion, although my NICNT, PillAR, NAC, or NIVAC are all prioritized over FSB. And nothing to change it to. Is inisghts only for "Bible study" type of Bible

    resources?

The top entry is always from a study Bible defined as library book type "study Bible"; The second entry is always from type "Bible commentary". And by "always" I am assuming a library large enough to include one resource of the type for one of the standard canons of scripture supported by scripture.

I marked this post "Insightful"… I couldn't miss that opportunity.

That's what I'm finding a bit confusing. i've got 81 books of the type:Study Bible, but only FSB shows up. And if I want to change that resource, the search bar is not giving anything else. The same with commentary section, only JFB and Word studies in New Testament. And I've got more bible commentaries than days to live.

It should show the highest priority Study Bible and highest priority Bible commentary. If you have not defined priorities, Logos will use default priorities. Can you take a screen shot of the related priorities you have set?

Do you mean that if you click the Change option you don’t see other Study Bibles or Commentaries?

    Yes, exactly.

Not sure why it's not offering any other option: FSB is the only one in the drop down. Commentary section below is similar, only showing 2 titles.

I noted that in your prioritisation screenshot you have Study Bibles and Commentaries about Bibles. This is not normally recommended - as it means, for instance, that you will see sections of commentaries when you hover over a reference as opposed to the biblical text.

I don't think that is the cause of the problem you are seeing, but I suggest changing it so that Bibles are at the top of the list.

I think you would get the behaviour you are seeing if you only had one study Bible and two commentaries (relevant to the passage you are looking at) downloaded and with all the others in the cloud. Is that possible here? (I would expect to see an indication of this in the prioritisation pane - assuming you are running the current version of the software - so I doubt if that is the problem but wanted to check)

I see what you mean. This was just a quick random prioritization just to check if it's picking up anything. Like you said, commentaries above bibles don't make sense for Bib ref in text. Like I said before, plenty of commentaries on john.

Tnx for helping out @Graham Criddle

i've got 81 books of the type:Study Bible

How many do you have of type:"Study Bible"? If you are searching your library using type:Study Bible, then this is the wrong syntax and will be pulling in a number of books of type "Bible Study" and "Study Guide" that mention "Bible" in the title or description.

Hey Andrew, if I remember right, I wasn't searching for "study bible", I just used the library filter option, and picked Study Bible, assuming, this was Logos standard categorization.
