Bye bye beloved old forum
This is the end of an era. Much like the end of the newsgroups several years (decades?) ago.
See you all in a few days!

I hope it won’t be the case, but we might experience some mega threads about bringing back the old forums. Why? This is a pattern of some of the reactions in this community to significant change.
I admit I was sad to see the usenet newsgroups go. In a news client like FreeAgent, it was extremely efficient to scan the posts, even offline, and interact. Yet it was the right call. To expect people to configure and use a usenet newsreader client, was not approachable enough for a wide audience in comparison with a simple web browser. Technology was moving on and so we needed to as well.
The new forums will reflect some changes that have occurred since this technology platform launched. At first some elements might feel unfamiliar, but give it several months, it will start to become the new norm. Indeed, gird your loins!

Those guys seem to really bug you.
When our company needed to change the evaluation/pay system, the intro was 'someone moved my cheese'. As if no-change was somehow bad. Of course, truth was, the change was to benefit the company (or so us execs planned anyway). Much of FL change is to benefit FL ... and doesn't, judging from the failures.
Change depends on who's to be benefited. I still use Kindle Classic .... I like the design and Amazon's 'change' didn't help me; no need for it. I don't buy a new car each year, upgrade my iPad, etc. And heavens to Betsy, we camp in an older VW camper and I use a Featherweight machine produced the year I was born. My dad gave me his 1920s wood-working tools; didn't want or need his newer tools.
Change depends.

I could look it up on the web, but, hey, what is a Featherweight machine?
Ah, scooter! Featherweights produce a very nice straight stitch, especially on quilts. Just like Libby produces a very nice font-contast for reading.

I do presume at least some will appreciate being able to view the forums on mobile, which is long overdue. That in and of itself is worth the change IMO.

Agree with your point. But not to ruin your day, I read the forum on my Apple watch.

The mobile is very good! There have been a couple comments on the "table" style of the "old" forums are easier to navigate - I can see that view, but the new forums look really good and seem to be smooth in operation. We'll see if the function improves in regards to the navigation aspect (some of which is figuring out where things will be located)

It's not quite Babylon though some threads might seem to head that way...but the thread title reminded me of this this song by Whiteheart.

Only one more sleep!
I just hope the forums are much much faster. I'm used to the 5-10 second lag by now, but 1-3 secs would be so much better.

I just checked the status page and was reminded of the fact that the forums will be read-only for up to three days while the Logos folks migrate to the new platform. I thought I'd post here in case anyone else forgot that, too!
